Chapter 31

Simon struggled over the course of his training, but over a short time he began to enjoy the struggle. Besides; the only people ever there to train him were Iz and Alec. Needless to say, Alec preferred not to train Simon and spent most of his time doing target practice and trying not to get too distracted by a certain warlock who liked to play with shiny weapons.

The only easy part about shadowhunter training was the small part of it that was academic rather than physical. This part bothered Izzy, as she remembered lots of time sitting around in the library with Jace throwing paper at her and Alec, while Alec paid half-ass attention (a lot more than her or Jace ever did), and she managed to struggle through Hodge's lectures. 

Clary was aching to watch Simon's progress, but as Iz and Simon were getting prepared for taking over the institute in a few year's time and Clary and Jace had their hands full with baby Charlotte both Simon and Clary were abnormally immobile and hardly had time to visit.

Jace was still trying to figure out the book that ended up in his possession; he knew it had things about his family's past but it was tricky because he had to know that next thing that the book wanted him to find out. It's like playing a guessing game; trying to guess what someone from another planet is thinking of.

Charlotte rolled around the floor, despite having made slight progress on her transition from crawling to almost standing. Clary and Jace had considered hiring a nanny or nurse so they could continue to train together, but Magnus (oddly), had taken a liking to Lottie and promised that after him and Alec moved to Idris he would watch Lottie any moment they'd let him.

When he mentioned this Jace murmured "she'll be covered with glitter," which sent the room into laughing.

All in all, the couples were more separated from each other than they had ever been; despite being oddly close at the same time. They were all doing their own things, but they focused on helping each other through them. That was more the shadow hunter's (and one warlock's) way.

So you're prob like "that was awful,". Yes, my sassy little reader. I'm editing my timeline and trying to re-set the plot to this story so for the moment this is just a filler chapter. The next chapter will be over 3,000 words (at least).
