So I've never actually done a one shot but I'm a daydreamer so this kinda happened... Maybe I'll do one-shots every few chapters to kinda break it up a little.

Malec one-shot:

Alec lay in bed, his friends and family saying goodbyes.

Magnus was sitting in an old rocking chair beside the bed, holding his hand. He was also supporting Alec's shuttering breaths, his life force.

Izzy, Simon, and their children had been there along with two of their grandchildren earlier in the day.

Jace, his two daughters and one son along with four grand children were just saying goodbye. Clary had died earlier that year, Jace was flighty and tired.

It had been more than sixty years since the war, and tomorrow would be Alec and Magnus' forty-second anniversary. (when red-haired William Herondale had become the new consul the clave had become more open to gay marriage.)

When everyone had left and it was only Alec and Magnus still in the room Magnus finally let himself cry.

Although Alec had aged (he was 78 now- much older than many shadowhunters became) Magnus still resembled a teenager.

"Don't let go.." Alec shuttered a breath, "until I fall asleep."

Magnus kept letting himself cry, "I don't want to let go."

"We knew it would happen," he shuttered then coughed, "promise you won't let go until I fall asleep."

"I couldn't.." He stared in Alec's faded blue eyes, remembering the way he used to laugh, smile, kiss.

Alec gave him that same smile, "you've made me happier than anyone else could ever do,"

"Don't do that!" Magnus got up and brought himself on the bed, crossing his legs, "don't say goodbye."

"You'll get through it. You know you will."

"No. I won't."

Alec, for once, was the one to lighten the mood. They talked for hours, laughed a little.

Finally Alec fell asleep.

"This is only goodnight. Not goodbye." Magnus lied to himself.

Then he let go.

Let go of Alec's life force and watched his last minutes while he was curled up in Alec's side, arms around his shoulders, rocking a little.

Magnus was right, he wouldn't get through it.

When he went on a walk that night, drained but unable to sleep, someone was ready for him. Someone who had been waiting years for his chance.

Magnus wouldn't live through what came next.

"Hello, son,"
