The paper used for fire messages almost had a soft texture and as Magnus scribbled a message on it he was afraid it would rip; although it never had before.
He scrawled out three messages, the first to Jace, the second to the Clave (he new if he didnt report the incident that wouldnt help a. the fact he was dating a nephilim b.the fact that nephiim is gay and c. that he is a downworlder just as the Clave was starting to support them), and one last message to Izzy because Alec was her brother.
After sending them up in a ball of blue flame to their destinations he began to regret telling Jace- even if you told him not to he would come and he'd just be leaving Clary with a nearly newborn child.
He began a last letter with only a small explanation on it and sent it out to an old friend of his.
He wanted to sit down and breath for a moment on the purple futon but instead turned to his desk and grabbed his spell books then sat on the bed by Alecs' feet to examine him.

When Charlotte started to cry early in the morning she woke Clary quickly. It was the first time Clary had a full nights sleep since the baby was born, in the nursery she bounced the baby around the soft purple walls with the mornings light streaming through the wall-length windows.
Jace had worked on the nursery the day they had got the news it was a girl- he couldn't help himself. There was an old rocking chair in the corner that Clary had sat in while he worked on it every day for hours- at just three months pregnant she had been put on bed rest and Jace had insisted that he did everything for her.
Charlotte was an easy baby after she had been born- she only woke up once a night and had the brightest little smile that made everyone around her instantly happy. Jace and Clary had had a fight over whose smile she had after she was born, of course they were laughing the whole time.
Charlotte was put down again easily with a bottle and Clary carried her down to a playroom Charlotte was still too young to use but was filled with teddy bears and sparkly things Magnus had insisted would be perfect for the room.
Clary set Charlotte in a tiny play pin with padding on the edges and netting to hold her tiny body.
The baby- half asleep- started giggling as Clary layered her with small toys.
A shiny pink teddy bear that had been Isabelles' when she was young, a blue horse that lacked any actual intrest, a green catapilllar with a bunch of legs, a red fish that had a wierd fabric, and a few other normal-ish looking yet oddly colored teddy bears.
The baby kept giggling and Clary mirrored it, she didnt notice anything going on outside of the little playroom- not even the sound of a message being delivered in an old office upstairs- the two of them kept playing in the pink and orange room that resembled a sunset, in fact almost the entire house looked like the sun. It was filled with golds and ambers, pinks and reds, even the occasional orange and yellow that made the people stand out but somehow complimented them at the same time.
On occasion things would transfer through via fire message but usually nothing was that urgent. One thing Clary had begun to enjoy was the fact that she didnt need to take her phone anywhere and worry it would be lost because she had no use for a phone in Alicante. It wouldnt work anyways.
Jace seemed to be at his best, hardly ever stressed even with a newborn at home, back to living out in a rural area like he had when he was a child. New York was definatly different than Alicante thats for sure.
The ruins of the Wayland manor werent far from the Herondale manor although they had no reason to be near it, it was closer the the main city- Alicante- than the Herondale manor but along another route so even when they had to go somewhere they never came upon the old house. By this time preperations were being made for the overall removal of the rubble but no one could rush it, no one had any power other than the Clave and without anyone with the name of Wayland living anymore they would take their time to get rid of it.
Even after the baby had fallen asleep in her tiny pen Clary kept her there- watching the tiny baby swim in the stuffed animals- until she was hungry and wondered what time it was. She hadnt checked the clock at all this morning, she almost never cared what time it was anymore. She wasnt on a schedule anymore and there was only one clock in the house that hung high and bright near the main entrance.
Wrapping Charlotte in a purple cotton blanket she dragged the sleeping baby back to the nursery and went to make breakfast. In the hallway as she passed the office she was about to step in- sure Jace would be in there by now- but he would probably be working on paperwork. Besides, anything she could say now she could say after breakfast when they usually practiced.

For once nothing was adding up, Magnus had never had such a hard time figuring out what was wrong with any of his patients even in all the years he'd been working for them. He had never had a patient as important to him as Alec, not when Camille had gotten into a fight with a werewolf, not when Ragnor had "hit his head", not when Catarina had fallen ill. No one had ever meant as much to him as Alec.
