The officiant smiled warmly, motioning for the couple to step closer to each other. "Amahle and Jey, you have chosen to exchange vows today, a reflection of the promises you're making as you begin this journey together. Amahle, would you like to go first?"
Amahle turned to Jey, her hands trembling slightly in his as she took a deep breath. Her dark brown eyes met his tear-filled gaze, and she smiled softly, her heart feeling lighter despite the weight of her emotions.
"Jey.. Joshua," she began, her voice steady yet full of emotion, "from the moment you walked into my life, you shattered every wall I'd ever built. I didn't think I could love this deeply, trust this completely, or feel this safe. You showed me that love isn't about being perfect, but about being real, about breaking boundaries and building something even stronger together."
She paused as Jey wiped at her cheek with her thumb, drawing a soft chuckle from the guests. Jey's thumbs gently stroked the tops of her hands, grounding her.
"You've stood by me through my brightest days and my darkest nights, loving me not just for who I am but for who I'm becoming. Today, I promise to love you with all of my heart, to cheer for you in every victory and continue to stand beside you in every challenge. I promise to build a life with you that honors our dreams, our family, and the legacy we're creating together."
Her voice broke slightly as she finished, "Jey, you are my safe place, my partner, my love, my everything. And I thank God every day for bringing me to you."
The crowd sighed collectively, a few sniffles breaking the silence. Jey's face was streaked with tears, his grip on her hands tightening as he took a moment to gather himself before speaking. He smiled, his dimples deep and his voice thick with emotion.
"Amahle," he started, his usual confident tone replaced by one of pure vulnerability. "I've always believed in loyalty, in family, and in keeping it real. But you? You've taught me what love really means. You've shown me that love isn't just about words or promises—it's about action. It's about showing up, even when things get tough. It's about breaking barriers, finding strength together, and building something no one else can touch."
