Haven

"Haven, did you listen to what I was saying?" My friend Kaileigh asked, snapping her fingers in my face to get my attention.

"Huh? Yeah yeah I'm listening" I murmured, focusing on her face instead of on Gerard who was throwing his head back with laughter a few feet away from me while he talked to my brother. Kaileigh raised a brow and scrutinized me with her stare.

"Oh yeah? What was I saying then" She says, crossing her arms in front of her chest and narrowing her eyes. When I didn't reply in 5 seconds she rolled her eyes and shifted her weight.

"Jesus what's got you so distracted?" She asks and turns to look over her shoulder trying to see what I was looking at earlier. She lets out a sigh when she realizes what, or better yet who, I was looking at. I gave her a sheepish smile when she turned around "Gibsie? Really? I thought we were past the whole rugby boy phase" She spoke.

"Looking doesn't hurt" I mused out, looking past Kaileigh for a second and looking at him before locking my eyes on her again.

"I don't think it's like, healthy to be so pinned on a guy who won't give you the time of day for what you want" She went on "Like I'm aware you've liked him for forever but you know nothing will come out of that"
If only she knew...

"Everything I'm telling you comes from the nicest part of my heart and I'm saying it because i love you and i don't want to see you beat up and sad when he eventually get someone," She carried on speaking "so I think it's time you finally let him go"
She gave me a small smile and I stared at her. "Yeah you're right, I should" I mused out and she was about to talk again when Johnny called out for me. Kaileigh gave me a quick goodbye hug and we parted ways, her to leave with a random guy I'd never seen before and me with my brother.

He exited the school before me so by the time I got to his car he was leaning against it talking with Gerard and Feely. "Finally you took forever" He complained and I rolled my eyes.

"Hi Feely, hi Gerard" I greeted both boys, offering them a small smile. Feely gave me a nod of acknowledgement like he always did, he wasn't much of a talker. "Hey Haven, how was your first day back?" Gerard asked, turning his face to look at me. Feely gave Gerard a weird look, I noticed it.

"Um, it was good. Boring, but good" I replied

Our little two second staring match was broken when Johnny cleared his throat and leaned off the car "Okay Haven let's get going. I've got Academy stuff to do in an hour." He told me "See you tomorrow lads" He adressed his friends.

"Oh, okay. Bye Feely, bye Gerard" I told the boys and went around the car to the passengers side, flashing Gerard a small smile before going inside the car. From the widnowshield I could see Feely glaring at Gerard and I wondered what all that was about.

Just like Johnny said, as soon as he got home and had lunch he bolted out of the house to go do his rugby academy stuff. Probably some med tests and maybe practice later. I had learned his schedule but since it changed a few weeks ago I still wasn't 100% sure what he did some days. The moment I heard the front door close my fingers flew through my phone and I sent Gerard the message 'johnny's gone, front door's unlocked'

I ran up the stairs and tried to rearrange my room at lightning speed - picking up papers, taking the pile of clothes that perpetually lived in my chair to the dirty laundry pile in the powder room, actually taking the time to make sure my bed looked good. When I was satisfied with how my room looked I whipped my closet open for an outfit change and in less than five minutes my room was as messy as before, this time with 50 different articles of clothing piled up in my bed. I was looking for something specific that I couldn't find and it was stressing me.
