Haven

"Look if I had a penny for every time someone told me I looked like Katie Wilmont I'd have two pennies" My friend Dove paused, brows furrowed "which if you put it into perspective isn't a lot but it's very odd that it happened twice"

All of us stared at her as if she had three heads. "You don't look like Katie Wilmont, Dovey" My other friend Saorise deadpanned.

"Yeah I do!" Dove defended her point

"Just because you're both redheads doesn't mean you look like her" I stated, idly picking at the skin by my nails.

The bickering carried on as we coursed the courtyard, Dove stopping near the rugby pitch and digging her court shoe's heels into the muddy grass and exasperatedly arguing with Saorise. I drifted off into my own headspace waiting for the moment I was needed to make a remark in a conversation I was not keen on participating in. It had been a few days since Biddies and I haven't talked to Gerard since. He texted. He called. He left long messages. And, can you believe he even publicly approached me? Obviously all his efforts were in vain because I didn't want to see him, let alone talk to him.

A deep feeling of uneasiness had been breathing down my neck since the Biddies thing happened and I needed a moment to regroup and reboot. Since that day my head thrummed more than normal and my heart felt heavier. Regret pooled all around me for reasons I myself couldn't figure out why and I'm pretty sure I was dehydrated from all the crying I did that awful night.

"Haven, are you okay?" My best friend Kaileigh pulled me out of my thoughts as her thumb drew featherlight circles on my shoulder

"All's good" I assured her, a small smile painted on my lips as I looked at Dove and Saorise "They still arguing?"
Kaileigh sniggered, crossing her arms over her chest "yeah i don't think neither of them will drop that case anytime soon"

My eyes widened in amusement as Dove let out a loud sigh and quite literally stomped towards me and Kaileigh, her back to Saorise who looked about as red as a tomato. "You guys don't see it but I do and that's all that matters to me" Dove shrieked, looking thoroughly overwhelmed that no one backed her claims of looking like Hughie Biggs's girlfriend.

Saorise eventually joined us and Kaileigh and I looked at them both comically. "Okay ladies, anyways" Kaileigh broke the awkwardness packed silence "Tommen's playing King's College this Friday. Do we want to go or do we skip and watch awesome 90s rom coms at my place"

"Wait, isn't the cute redhead you like in King's?" Dove asked, turning to Saorise with an excited expression and totally forgetting they were cursing each other out two minutes ago. Saorise's face lit up like a candle and she let out a squeal.

"I was planning on going to, you know, support Johnny and everything" I said after a beat "Also Feely's playing this one. His knee is better so this is his first game back"

Kaileigh gave me a side glance, her eyes brighter than usual. I recognized the stars in her eyes because those were the same ones Gerard used to put in mine. "Feely's playing?" Kaileigh murmured.
"Now that you bring it up I was actually wondering what had happened to him" Dove questioned

"Long story short he fucked it in practice but he's all good now" I explained and they all nodded. The rugby game conversation died down and we unanimously decided to go inside because the ugly uniform skirts weren't doing much to shield us from Irish weather.

"Leigh, do you like Feely?" I asked her, seeing that Dove and Saorise were a few feet ahead of us

"What? No i don't" She replied, I raised a brow
