Biddies was filled to the brim, the atmosphere busy and loud all around. Haven watched from across the room, gripping her glass of water tightly to her chest as she feels the air leave her body time and time again.

The girl moves towards Gibise with the confidence of someone who knows her attention will be welcomed, tanned skin and bright smile cutting through the dimly lit bar. Haven can't tear her eyes away from the girl: from the way she moves to the way the corners of her eyes crinkle as she laughs to the way her hand effortlessly touches his arm.

"You're Gibsie right?" The girl asks, her tone almost musical as she tilts her head to the side. She clocked him the minute he walked in and then decided he was the one she wanted to go to.

"That's me" Gibsie replied, swirling the bottle of beer in his hand before taking a sip out of it, smirking down at the girl who's attention was welcome.

She can't hear their conversation but her laughter is loud enough to ring in Haven's ear, and by consequence make her heart twist painfully. Gibsie smirks down at her, casually running a hand through his hair. The girl's hand goes back to the sleeve of his hoodie, but this time staying there as she goes up on her tiptoes so she can whisper something in his ear, testing boundaries Haven knows she can't cross in public, not again ever.

"I saw your game today" She purrs out, her touch on his arm lingering a bit too long for his comfort "You were fantastic out there"

"Yeah?" He drawled back "didn't think anyone noticed with Johnny stealing the show"
Gibsie tried his hardest to ignore Haven's broken gaze from across the room and so far, staying away from her was a task he was successful on.

"Oh please" the girl says "Everyone could notice you were the one holding it together. Johnny's great and all but you were by far the most dominant on the field today"
Gibsie knew the girl was way over her head, he was good and he knew that but he was by far overshadowed by his soon to be professional rugby player best friend. He was okay with Johnny being better than him and held absolutely no grudges to him. "I think Johnny might disagree with you on that one" Gibsie added, taking a sip of his beer and making the girl laugh

"Well I think you were the real force out there" Her voice lowered an octave "The way you moved on the field, so confident. It's attractive really"

Gibsie chuckled, his insides churning as he felt Haven's eyes on him "What's your name?"
"Chloe" The girl told him "Do you have any plans for celebrating your win tonight? If you don't I can surely help you figure out some" She muses, her tone clearly suggestive. If it were another circumstance, Gibsie would probably take her up on the offer. But he didn't. Not today.

For a split second Gibsie's eyes flicker to Haven, breaking the promise he made himself earlier to not look in her direction. His heart tightens at the look in her face: defeated and just so lonely. Her hands gripping the glass so tightly and condensation pooling in her fingers. She was alone, solely focusing on him. Haven couldn't breathe. The weight of the easy exchange happening before her was too much to bear and she felt hot jealousy simmer in every pore of her body. Right now she wishes she was anywhere else except there and she tries to move away, but she's rooted to her spot, watching the person she's yearned so much for slip further away from her fingers. What makes it unbearable is his body language - so welcoming to the praises and conversations.

It was too much for her heart, and feeling tears threatening to prickle in the corners of her eyes, Haven leaves the glass of water and goes over to Johnny. She tells him she isn't feeling well and with a dismissive hand motion from her brother, she leaves the bar with her heart even more broken than when she walked in.

Gibsie now feels guilty and disgusted, an odd feeling creeping around his neck as he processes what just happened with the girl of his dreams a few meters away. She looks back to Chloe and now she isn't as attractive as he thought she was. She was gorgeous of course, but now Gibsie didn't find her that way. "Maybe another time yeah?" Gibsie told her, giving her a tight lipped smile and brushing past her, leaving her confused as he tried searching round the bar for Haven.

Gibsie found his way back to the table where his friends sat and sank next to Johnny "Where's your sister?" He asked casually.

Johnny's face was flushed, half because of the heat and half because of the alcohol "Wasn't feeling well and went home"Gibsie let out a hum and fell silent. He knew the "wasn't feeling well excuse" was complete and utter bullshit, he knew the reason why she left was because he was too much of a coward to face his best friend and tell him he was head over heels with his little sister so he retorted to meeting her in secret while he flirted with other girls in public.
