Chapter 48:

Mina leaned back against her chair, staring out the window as the street blurred into motion. She had so many things to worry about. The unresolved relationship and lingering tension with Yuta and the implications of it to her company but none of it mattered to her right now. She needed this time for herself, for Chaeyoung. She didn't want to think of anyone or anything else as of now.

After breakfast, Mina glanced at Chaeyoung, whom already had her eyes on her. "I've moved into a new apartment just down the street. I'll show you around some other time. I figured I might as well settle in since I'll be here longer." Mina smiled softly. "I want to make the most of my time with you." Mina said, breaking the silence.

Chaeyoung nodded, trying to suppress a grin but the rhythmic drumming of her fingers against the table betrayed her happiness and her struggle to contain it.

Mina smiled and leaned forward. She rested her chin in her hand, "So, where should we go today?"

Chaeyoung's expression suddenly shifted to something apologetic. She rubbed her eyebrows, "Unfortunately...I have something to do today."

Mina frowned, "Can't you cancel it?" She asked, visibly disappointed.

Chaeyoung shook her head. "I really can't."

Mina sulked, crossing her arms like a child. "Is it that important?"

Chaeyoung rubbed the back of her neck, looking hesitant. "It's...community service, apart of my 200 hours. Toady I'll help out at the nursing home and buy groceries for the elderly residents,"

Mina's eyes lit up. "Can I come?"

Chaeyoung blinked, startled. "What? No, Mina. You don't need to—"

"Why not?" Mina interrupted, sitting up straighter. "I'm part of society too, aren't I?"

"Mina, it's not that simple—" Chaeyoung began but Mina was already on her feet.

And just like that, Mina stood beside Chaeyoung in the nursing home. Despite Chaeyoung's protests, Mina had insisted even going so far as to argue with the officer in charge. Mina's intelligence and determination eventually won them over and she was allowed to join.

Chaeyoung watched in disbelief as Mina tied an apron around her waist and began helping with breakfast service. The residents adored her. Their  faces lighting up as she chatted with them and carefully handed out plates. Chaeyoung sighed, shaking her head as she handed Mina a tray. "You're unbelievable, you know that?"

Mina grinned at her, the corners of her eyes crinkling. "You're just mad I'm better at this than you."

Chaeyoung shook her head but couldn't hide her smile as she went back to work. Mina tried to focus on her tasks but her gaze kept drifting back to Chaeyoung. Chaeyoung dressed so simply, laughing and chatting with strangers as if she'd been doing this her whole life. Mina's eyes softened. She missed her so much, she couldn't pull her eyes off her.

Later, the two of them helped deliver groceries to elderly residents in the surrounding neighborhood. The sun was high in the sky by the time they finished and Mina wiped the sweat from her brow.

"Thank you so much, dear," the elderly woman said. Her voice warm as she handed Chaeyoung a small bag of oranges in gratitude.

Chaeyoung smiled brightly. "It was our pleasure. Take care!"

Mina smiled as she watched her. Chaeyoung seemed so different. She's so much more than the person Mina remembered. She had grown humble, kind, effortlessly approachable and remarkably skilled at winning people over
