Chapter 55:

It was past noon. They were snuggling on the couch, watching Chaeyoung's long-awaited romance drama about a time-travel plot. During a break, Mina suddenly stood up and walked toward her bedroom without saying a word. Chaeyoung furrowed her brow and waited for her to return. A few minutes later, Mina reappeared, wearing a sleek black dress. Chaeyoung straightened. Her eyes went wide as she took in the sight of her.

Mina twirled around and struck a pose. Chaeyoung clapped lightly, chuckling, "Are you putting on a private fashion show?"

Mina giggled and slid beside Chaeyoung on the couch. "This is one of my favorite dresses, but I only wore it once."

"Why?" Chaeyoung asked, still mesmerized.

Mina lifted the hem of the dress, revealing a small tear. "I ripped it accidentally. I haven't had time to fix it... Do you think you could help me?" She asked.

Chaeyoung examined the tear and nodded. "I can try but I'm no professional. I might ruin it and it looks like an expensive dress. Maybe I could take it somewhere to get it fixed for you?"

Mina shook her head, "No, I want you to fix it. Please." She tilted her head and dropped her eyes, preparing to unleash her usual signature move, her deadly trick.

But Chaeyoung immediately closed her eyes, raising a hand in defense. "Nope," she said, shaking her head. "I'm not falling for that again."

Mina pouted and whined, "Chaeyoung, please... please?" She grabbed Chaeyoung's hand and started swinging it back and forth. Chaeyoung didn't respond. Mina's lips curled into a mischievous smile and she leaned in closer, She dragged out the last word, "Changie~" she called out softly.

Like Cupid's arrow that had pierced her heart, Chaeyoung felt physically attacked. The nickname caught her completely off guard.
She bit her lip, trying to stifle the wide grin that automatically spread across her face. "Okay, okay, stop. I'll fix it but don't blame me if it turns out terrible," she sighed, defeated.

Mina's eyes sparkled. She hopped off the couch and skipped to her bedroom to change. Mina left Chaeyoung behind, still trying to calm the erratic thumping in her chest. Chaeyoung leaned back on the couch and clutched her heart.

"You're hitting 30, what's all this?" she muttered to herself, covering her face with one hand as she tried to hide her flustered face. She felt like a teenager whose crush had just noticed them. Chaeyoung had completely forgotten how this "thing" felt like. It was pleasantly discomforting.

They ended up with Mina sitting beside Chaeyoung, scooping ice cream from the tub they had bought earlier at the convenience store while she hummed a random song to herself. Chaeyoung carefully stitched the dress with a needle and colorful thread. She decided to add daisies pattern to cover the tear. Every now and then, Mina would scoop up a bite of ice cream and feed it to Chaeyoung. Chaeyoung would open her mouth to accept it but her eyes never leaving the dress. She made sure not to make a single mistake.

The warm glow of the sunset bathed the city streets in shades of amber and gold as Mina twirled in front of the mirror. The repaired dress swaying gracefully around her. She couldn't stop admiring the daisies Chaeyoung had stitched to cover the tear, each one small and carefully crafted.

"It's perfect," Mina whispered to herself, smoothing the fabric before stepping out of her room.

Chaeyoung was waiting in the living room, scrolling on her phone as she read the updates Miyeon had emailed her. Mina had been in her room for two hours but Chaeyoung didn't complain. The moment Mina finally appeared, she froze, a rush of heat rise to her cheeks.
