"I heard your siren's call, it was beautiful

I am drowning, but please don't save me"

Leilani stirred, the persistent trill of her phone dragging her from sleep

Leilani stirred, the persistent trill of her phone dragging her from sleep. Her eyes fluttered open, squinting against the soft morning light filtering through Oscar's bedroom window. She was sprawled across his chest, his arm draped lazily around her. His steady heartbeat beneath her ear was almost enough to lull her back to sleep, but the relentless buzzing of her phone wouldn't allow it.

The bedroom had a cozy, lived-in feel. Posters of iconic race cars adorned the walls, and a stack of books and magazines lay precariously on the bedside table. Oscar's scent—a mix of cedarwood and something uniquely him—lingered in the air, grounding her in the moment.

"Mmm," Oscar mumbled as she shifted to reach for the phone, his voice thick with sleep. His arm tightened briefly around her before loosening as he settled back into the pillows. Leilani groaned, fumbling for her phone on the bedside table. Finally grasping it, she answered without checking the screen.

"What?" she murmured, her voice hoarse from sleep.

"Where are you?" Miya's voice chirped on the other end of the line, loud enough to make Leilani wince.

"Leila, we have classes, where are you?" Miya questioned.

"Not there?"

"Are you STILL at Oscar's?" Miya questioned before adding. "Are you in his bed?"

"You are a dirty mind, Miya—"

"Well, are you?"

"Obviously," Leilani sighed but ended up smiling. "I won't be back in time, I forgot what day it was. I'll be back later in the evening. I need to be back  for my driving lesson tomorrow."

"Mr Formula driver isn't teaching you to drive?"

"No, he owns a McLaren and I'd rather not crash it," Leilani joked. "Though I did drive it on a carpark, think I gave him a heart attack. Talking of him, he's awake so I'm going to go."

"Yeah, yeah, go get up to things—"

"Really?" Leilani shook her head, though Miya couldn't see that. "Bye, Miya."

"Bye Leila."

Leilani threw her phone onto the night stand. By now, Oscar had woken up, the soft rustle of the sheets accompanied by his lips pressing a kiss to her cheek.

"Morning," he murmured, his voice warm and husky.

Leilani smiled faintly, tilting her head toward him. "Morning."
