Tikki went with who her heart knew the best person to be the next Ladybug would be, for the good of humanity. Plagg... did not.
Paris has two new superheroes, Ladybug and Chat Noir, but what they don't know is that both teens carry an intense secret...
Ladybug's feet wouldn't move. She stood upon the roof of a tall theater, now level with an entire city consumed by water. What... was she even supposed to do? Giant manish fish were taking over the city but she'd already figured out they weren't related to this akuma at all. They had to be sentimonsters, proving that Chat Noir was right. His intuition about Dusuu having a new wielder... Mayura was now active.
But that didn't explain the water. She caught a glimpse of some figure dashing around the water like a barracuda when it was still rising, but now that the water had stopped, she'd lost them. She knew that was the akuma, but how was she supposed to even get to them?
She observed the water. It was starting to become still, making it easier for her to see through it. It was so deep, she couldn't see the roads of Paris anymore. A few minutes passed by, and then in a flash, a shadow streaked across the front of the theater, causing the water to stir again. Ladybug jumped in, not even summoning her lucky charm ahead of time.
She opened her eyes under the water and finally saw her. Syren. The akuma was a mermaid, with pink skin and devil horns. Syren, having just lured Ladybug into the water, swam at her rapidly. At the same time, Ladybug released her yoyo like a fishing wire into the water. They collided, but she successfully hooked Syren.
Syren quickly swam away with her, dragging Ladybug who was starting to run out of air. They rounded a corner and Ladybug jammed her feet into it. Her increased strength allowed her to stop them completely. Hooked on the yoyo, Syren was jerked back with Ladybug. Ladybug pulled her in, and the two began a game of tug o war.
"You think you can win this?" Syren snarled. Ladybug could hear her perfectly under water. Syren was unhooking the yoyo from herself which had gotten tangled in her fins. "All I have to do is wait for you to run out of breath!"
And that was going to come very soon because Ladybug was already starting to feel her head turn blue.
"Last I checked, Ladybugs aren't the best swimmers," said a familiar voice. Ladybug swiveled her head in surprise and discovered Chat Noir there! He had the aquatic power up activated! His cat ears were greener and fin like, much more pointed now than usual. His lower body was that of a coarse black fish with vibrant green fins. His black scales covered his shoulders and forearms but otherwise his skin was bare, revealing the the scars on his neck and face from Evillustrator and other akumas. To her surprise, his hair was long now and tied in a cat-like braid behind him. At his cheeks, he had two long barbs or whiskers, like a catfish.

Ladybug finally choked and released the yoyo so she could swim back to the surface, desperate for air. She had no idea what could be happening beneath her, only being able to focus on how desperately she wanted air. Making it to the surface, Ladybug gasped and nearly drowned. She barely made it back to that theater again, clinging to the roof for dear life. She never thought she was taking breathing for granted until now, man did it feel good!
