Chapter 27

Kay's POV

"Oh meh gawd! Its been forever! When did you get back? And how'd you get tiny like me?" I asked exuberantly.

"Few days ago. A name I shall not speak shrunk me. What are you doing with humans? You weren't sold, were you?" Matrix eyed Seto and Brice with a scornful look. They didn't notice and kept their 'WTF' faces. Brice's eye twitched a bit, like mentally deciding if he wanted pummel Matrix or walk away and slam his head into a wall.

"No, Trixie. They're my friends! They saved my life and..." I paused, noticing her wing. "... what happened there?" I pointed to her torn wing, which was starting to bleed.

Matrix looked at her wing and folded it behind her back. "A welcoming gift from Mother Nature. Also, I told you not to call me that."

"Seto's a good healer, he could help you," I offered.

"I don't need their help! I'm fine on my own."

I sighed, "I know you don't like asking help from others, but you might not fly again if it's not healed soon."

She considered this, "Well...-"

Seto finally spoke up. "Um, Kay? Can I have a word with you?"

Giving him a small nod, he set his hand down, palm up, and I climbed on. "Brice, watch her," Seto mumbled as he moved to a corner.

"Sure," Brice muttered, his eye still twitching and expression unchanged. Matrix laughed nervously and hid behind her good wing.

"First off, what the hell just happened? She attacks us, then you do exactly what I told you not to do, and you girls are friends?" he questioned.

"That's how a lot of her first impressions go... but she's nice once you get to know her. She has a human form, but I guess she can't use it." I explained. "You're lucky she's shrunken and has a hurt wing, she could've done worse."

"But why'd she attack? We were just trying to help."

"She doesn't like trusting or getting help from people, and fighting is her main tactic in her... situation..."

"Situation?"

"Its not my place to say."

Fortunately, he didn't take my answer into mind. "So, she doesn't like humans?"

"She doesn't hate them or you or whatever, she just has to find out that she can trust you. Matrix won't attack anymore if you're friends with me."

"Alright, I'll do whatever you need me to. Only if she doesn't try to hurt anyone else."

I rolled my eyes, "Okay, Dad!"

He went silent. His irises faded and changed to a strange shade of dark orange. "Dude, that's creepy," I stated bluntly.

Seto shrugged, "Creepier when you do it."
