???'s POV

This is it. Its all over. She found me. I'm dead, I'm dead, I'm so very dead! My heart raced as I did, scampering hopelessly from my quick approaching death. The scratching of claws against tile hurt my ears so much that they flattened over my head. Closer, closer, until a shadow cast over me. Two gigantic, white paws slammed me into the ground, pain rising in my back. This stupid beast could break me easily if it wanted to!

I peered up into the amber eyes of my maker, struggling hopelessly under the pressure of her furry paws. The cat laughed, "Thought you could get away so easily?" it said, its voice thick with a British accent. Before I could reply, it snatched me up in its pearly white jaws, by my tail. Why the tail?! I screamed in agony as she bit down harder, blood seeping out through my skin and staining my fur. 'Goodbye cruel world.'

Suddenly, the beast froze. I looked up to see her slit-pupiled eyes widen in shock and pain. She yelped, the loud noise booming in my tiny ears as I fell to the ground. The last thing I saw was Starr scampering away, and an unrecognizable figure coming towards me.

"Are... you alright?"

I opened my eyes, the light nearly blinding me. A dark-haired girl about my age was standing over me, yet... she was... like me... "Wha- what happened?" I asked, groggily sitting up.

"That cat almost got you, but I took care of it. I'm Tyra by the way," she smiled, holding out her hand. "I-I'm Kay..." I said shakily. I shook it and tried to get up, finding it too painful and agonizing. "Don't get up, you're hurt," Tyra warned, her dark blue eyes scanning me with worry.

"How can I go anywhere if I can't get up?" I asked stupidly, my head still spinning. Before she could answer, an earthquake seemed to shake the floor beneath us. (You guessed it) Yet another larger, darker shadow cast over us. A male human stood over us like a mountain, glaring down at my new friend. Strangely, Tyra didn't even flinch. "Tyra!" the human yelled furiously, folding his arms against his chest. "Do I need to keep you on a-" he paused, glancing at me confusedly. "Who is that?"

I let out a little whine as he knelt down next to us, unfortunately he heard me. "Hey... I'm not gonna hurt you," he tried to assure me, leaning a little closer. 'Yeah right, that's what they all say...'

"Seto! You're scaring her!" Tyra scolded. 'Wait, is she crazy? Yelling at a human, that's a pretty dumb way to get killed.'

To my surprise, Seto (apparently the human) shrank back. "I'm sorry... Tyra, what happened?"

"She was almost killed by that cat! You can't blame me for trying to help!" Tyra retorted. "She needs help! Her tail is bleeding and she can't walk!" Was this human actually taking orders from her?! No, that's not possible...

Seto's gaze swept back to me, his caramel eyes searching me. I felt like a bug under a microscope. Seriously! Humans' eyes are huge! "If you don't mind, I'm gonna pick you up now. Please don't freak out, okay? I promise I won't hurt you," he told me.

"B-but why should I trust you?" I countered. If there's one thing I've learned, you can NEVER trust a human.

"Well... I can heal your wound," he mentioned. "And I can keep that cat away." Seto placed his hand flat on the ground, palm up. Tyra smiled and stepped on without hesitation. 'Well... I guess he must be nice if Tyra trusts him...' He reached down for me slowly, his soft digits pressing against my fragile figure as he lifted me into the air with ease and set me down next to Tyra.

She must have seen me trembling in fear, "Seto won't hurt you, don't worry." "Why do you trust him? He's a human!" I asked bluntly.

"Because, he's my friend. And... I'm a human too."

*[So... yeah. Just to make this clear, this does NOT happen in the original book. This is basically a "What if?" scenario. I don't update this book very often, but if it gets enough reads and feedback and stuff, I'll update more for you people's sake. :3 ]*
