Kay's POV
I awakened, but didn't open my eyes. I lay in my place, wherever I was, letting the dreams and memories of my past slowly fade away. Most of them were nightmares, being strapped down and injected with glowing who-knows-what, the pain and bloodshed from the torturing from a certain ookami, and the evil that has become of my best friend (but that's another story).
But some were better, my hybrid friends that I know are still out there somewhere, the good sides of my best friend beyond his situation, playing with my father as a young child, and other things before the madness of chemicals and being locked in a cell.
A thought struck me, Isn't Raena's ability controlling dreams? She could send me a memo like last time...
Yet, the thought was diminished due to a little shriek from somewhere behind me. My eyelids slid open, revealing a blur of colors. I reached for my glasses and slipped them over my nose.
Tyra seemed to be analyzing her hands and surroundings, her blue eyes widening.
"What's wrong?" I asked.
"I.... I think I'm getting smaller..." she murmured.
"But how? That doesn't make sense."
"Th-the potion... I guess it w-works t-too well."
"How can you tell?"
"Stand up."
I stood, finding that I was now taller than her. Wait, what? But she's older than me!
"See?"
I nodded, "Wait, you said potion. Is that how you're... smaller?"
Tyra's head tilted downwards, "Yes, it was my fault as well."
A loud thud echoed in the room as Brice jumped down from the top bunk to the floor. My ears flattened instinctively at the thunder-like noise and slight tremors. Seto literally fell out of his bunk in surprise, causing more tremors.
"Boys..." Tyra muttered, rolling her eyes.
"Well, you guys are up early," Brice greeted with a mischievous grin.
"Yeah, I wonder why," Seto muttered, getting up and rubbing his head from his contact with the floor.
Brice rolled his eyes and ignored him, "What's new?"
"Tyra's shrinking," I said bluntly.
"Well, we knew that."
"No, like... less than before. I'm taller than her now."
Seto raised an eyebrow and blew his bangs out of his face, "That doesn't make any sense."
"That's what I said!"
Tyra stared at her feet, not making eye contact. "Well, I guess I'm the shortest once again."
"I don't think that's the worst of your problems," I stated, then turned back to Seto. "Will she shrink any more than she already has?"
"I don't know! I didn't even think I could make such an advanced potion! Much less know the disadvantages!" He paused, taking a few seconds to think.
"But it's definitely possible."
"Seto, you seriously just made a potion without doing any research or knowing anything at all about it?!"
He held up his hands defensively. "It was just an experiment. I was going to test it out on something else to see the effects, but... *sigh* this happened." He gestured toward Tyra, whose face colored in embarrassment.
"I should've been more careful, this is all my fault," Tyra murmured, her eyes trailing the ground.
"Usually if something bad happens, I'm the scapegoat," Brice piped, unable to wipe the smirk off his face.
"I'm sure there's a very good reason for that."
