Brice's POV
"Kay? Are you alright?"
The tiny kitsune panted heavily, sitting straight up on the bunk. She looked up at me as I knelt down to meet her wide-eyed stare. Curling into a quaking ball, several cries emitted from her mouth, "D-don't h-hurt m-m-me..."
"Hey, hey, shh.... What happened? What's wrong?" I asked, gently taking her in my hands.
"Y-you k-k-killed m-me..." Kay shuddered.
"What?!" Killed her? Me? What? "I'd never!"
"Y-you said I c-caused trouble..."
"No you haven't, none of that was your fault."
"If I had never come here..." Her voice trailed off.
Fortunately, I didn't have to reply. "Hey guys! Come look at this!" Seto called. He was leaning over a spellbook, eyeing the contents with anticipation. Tyra was lying on his hood, her chin laid on her crossed arms, also gazing at the book.
"What's up Seto?" I asked, leaning forward to look at the open spellbook. It was written in some strange language, "What is that? Japanese?"
Seto looked at me and rolled his eyes, "No! Its Greek! How do you mistake Greek for Japanese?" How was I supposed to know? I'm not a nerd like Seto!
"Sorcery is in Greek?"
"Its in many different languages, Latin, Greek, Standard Galactic... but that's not the point. I found a healing spell for Kay," he explained.
Kay's ears perked up, her fear forgotten, "Healing spell?"
"'Αυτό το ξόρκι μπορεί να επισκευάσει τα σπασμένα κόκαλα , αλλά δεν μπορεί να θεραπεύσει μώλωπες , ουλές ή άλλες παρόμοιες πληγές. Δεν μπορεί να θεραπεύσει οποιαδήποτε ασθένεια. Ανώδυνη.' 'This spell can repair broken bones, but cannot heal bruises, scars or other similar wounds. It cannot cure any diseases as well. Painless.'" Tyra recited.
"Precisely," Seto smiled.
"Waaaait... Tyra's a nerd too? God damn it. Am I the only idiot here?" I thought out loud. Kay giggled a little, Seto gave me that expressionless, 'would you just shut up?' look, and Tyra smirked.
"At least you admit it," Tyra chortled, sticking her tongue out at me.
"Shut up, you little-" I stopped myself as soon as I saw Seto's eyes narrow, glimmering faint, purple sparks in his irises. 'Note to self: Don't try to insult Tyra when Seto's around or I will most likely go up in flames.'
Kay seemed to realize what was going on and immediately changed the subject, "Painless? I guess that's a good thing..." she mumbled, glancing into Seto's eyes uneasily.
"Yep, Brice, give her to me real quick." Seto held out his hands, the glint gone. I carefully placed Kay in the center of his palm, slightly worried about what he would do. The sorcerer took her small leg in between his fingers, chanting words I couldn't understand.
"Θεραπεία αυτό αλεπού του χτυπημένο το ποδαράκι του." His eyes started to glow a light violet, but not only his irises. Both of his eyes were entirely covered in violet light. No pupils, no nothing. I gotta admit, it was kind of creepy. The purple light surged down into his arm, right to his fingers holding Kay's broken leg.
Kay only stared in amazement as the light traveled from Seto into her, spiraling until it completely vanished. Puzzled, the kitsune slowly shifted her formerly wounded leg. She didn't wince or cry out like usual, so it must've worked.
Her mystified stare was replaced by a wide grin, showing her needle-point fangs. 'I wonder what it feels like to get bit by those... probably not pleasant...'
She stood up with ease and hugged Seto's finger exuberantly, "Thank you!"
Seto's eyelids drooped over his brown eyes, a little smile tugging at his lips. "You're welcome," he replied sleepily, handing her back to me. "You okay, dude?" I inquired.
"Yeah, yeah..." Seto let out a long yawn, covering his mouth politely. "Too advanced of a spell... drains my energy..... tired....." he murmured.
"Then rest," Tyra suggested.
"I can't rest with you up there," Seto chuckled weakly, plucking the tiny girl off of his head. "How'd you even get up there in the first place?"
Tyra only shrugged, adjusting her braid. She wasn't fazed in the least, although she was sitting in the hands of a person who could easily take her life. But Seto? Nope. If he did such a thing, he'd possibly die of guilt. And I'd never hear the end of it...
"Go ahead, dude. Sleep, you look exhausted," I said, pushing these thoughts to the very back of my mind.
"Yeah..." As soon as he hit the bunk, he was out cold. I guess he's not as good with sorcery as I thought...
I felt like a stalker watching him while he slept, but hey, I wasn't the only one. Tyra sat on the very edge of the desk, swinging her dangling legs back and forth. She frowned and sighed longingly, her face cupped in her hands.
"I bet you miss sleepin' with your boyfriend, huh?" I joked, recalling a memory.
Tyra glared daggers up at me, "Shut UP!" I probably would've gotten beat up if she weren't so teeny. 'Hey, this might be fun...'
Kay cocked her head, one of her red ears tilting sideways in a state of bewilderment. 'Heh heh, inside jokes...'
