The past few weeks had been a blur, a cacophony of chaos that left me wondering if I'd even know what peace felt like again. First, there was the whirlwind trip to Australia fancy events, endless networking, and so much brainstorming that my brain was ready to revolt. Then came the new collaborators, each one more demanding than the last, and just as I thought I couldn't handle more, a stalker showed up, adding an unsettling twist to an already tumultuous time.

Honestly, I wasn't sure how I was still standing. But then there was Adrien. Cool, collected, and annoyingly capable of keeping his head when the world seemed to be crumbling around us. He was my anchor in the storm, and we'd even been toying with the idea of merging our businesses into one powerhouse. A dream, sure, but one that felt tantalizingly close.

But the stalker... that lingering nightmare that crept into my life for weeks? It was a constant itch in the back of my mind, even though it'd been a week since the last creepy message. No calls, no notes, no shadowy figures lurking in corners. It was almost enough to make me believe it was over. Almost.

Today, however, was different. I woke up to silence a rare, beautiful silence. My parents had taken off for a family trip, leaving me alone in the house for the first time in forever. Normally, I would have joined them. Family trips were a grounding force in my life, a way to reset. But this time, the weight of unfinished work, constant exhaustion, and the nagging feeling of being watched kept me home.

So, there I was alone. My house, usually a flurry of activity, now felt like a tomb. The silence wasn't comforting, it was almost suffocating. I told myself it was just my overactive imagination. Today was supposed to be about me. The stillness would be a temporary reprieve, a chance to recharge. I was going to bake, organize my closet, maybe sketch a little. Simple stuff. Grounding stuff.

I could have called Subha but I cant cause she is not in her house anymore. She went to Delhi for her doctor interns. I was missing her a lot , but we frequently called and contacted with each other .

But as I moved through the house, that persistent, nagging thought wouldn't go away. What if the calm was just an illusion? What if the storm was still waiting, just behind the clouds? I shook it off. Not today. Today, I was taking back some peace.

By late afternoon, the house felt less empty. My favorite playlist was on, the smell of fresh cookies filling the air. I was in my element again, sketching away as the sun dipped lower, painting my walls in hues of orange and pink. For once, I wasn't thinking about deadlines, fashion shows, or any of the other madness that had consumed me. Just the quiet. Just me.

Then, as the evening stretched into night, the silence began to crawl back—this time, a little more unsettling. I glanced at my phone. Nothing. Not even a text from Adrian. But the silence wasn't the comforting kind anymore. It felt... wrong.

I told myself I was being dramatic. The security system was on. The doors were locked. Adrien's words echoed in my mind: You're stronger than you think, Shayantika. Don't let fear take what's yours.
