The cafeteria buzzed with the usual hum of activity, but a certain table drew attention for an entirely different reason. Izuku Midoriya sat at the center of a small circle of girls, his face as red as a tomato. He fiddled nervously with his chopsticks as the girls chatted and laughed around him, completely unbothered by his obvious embarrassment. It was a common sight these days ever since the USJ incident, Izuku’s natural humility and quiet strength had won over several admirers, much to the amusement of his classmates.

Not far from Izuku’s table, the boys of Class 1-A minus Bakugo, who was likely off brooding or training somewhere gathered around their own lunch trays. The atmosphere was markedly different. While the girls teased and giggled with Izuku, the boys spoke in hushed, serious tones, a sense of unease hanging over them.

Kaminari leaned forward, lowering his voice as he recounted the earlier incident for those who hadn’t seen it firsthand.

Kaminari:So, yeah, Shinso was being a jerk—talking about how we don’t deserve the Hero Course because we survived the USJ attack, stuff like that

He jabbed at his food with his chopsticks, his brows furrowed.

Kaminari:Izuku punched him in the gut hard and, honestly, I don’t blame him. If it were me, I probably would’ve done the same thing.”

Sero:Yeah, I get that

Sero nodded, chewing thoughtfully.

Sero:But it’s what Midoriya said afterward that really got to me…

Kirishima frowned, glancing around the table.

Kirishima:You mean the part about… regenerating?

“Exactly.” Kaminari leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms.

Kaminari:He said he’s been trained to regenerate from something like half his body being vaporized. Like, what does that even mean?

A heavy silence followed his words. No one seemed eager to be the first to respond.

Tokoyami finally broke the quiet with a sigh.

Tokoyami:It’s as we suspected

he said, his voice calm but grim.

Tokoyami:Judging by the scars on his body, particularly around his midsection, it’s clear his words weren’t an exaggeration. He’s mentioned before that he got those scars from training his quirk.

The table fell silent again. They all thought of the scars that crisscrossed Izuku’s body. Most of them had only caught glimpses—during training sessions, in the locker room—but they were impossible to miss. The jagged lines carved across his arms, legs, and especially his midsection told a story no one had dared to ask about.

Mineta, who had been uncharacteristically quiet until now, gripped his fingers tightly together. His voice was shaky when he finally spoke.

Mineta:B-but… Izuku can regenerate, right?

he stammered, his eyes wide.

Mineta:If he can heal like that, then… why does he still have those scars? Shouldn’t they disappear or something?

The question hung in the air, heavy and uncomfortable.

Shoji, who had been silently listening, finally let out a deep breath.

Shoji:That’s what doesn’t make sense

he said, his voice steady but laced with concern.

Shoji:If his quirk can heal injuries like he said, then those scars shouldn’t exist. The fact that they’re still there…
