“Tetsuro darling..”
His mother entered with a frown
on her face seeing her son curled
up on his bed, his eyes closed but
his stressed breathing telling
that he wasn't asleep.“You know how your dad is.
He'll be fine eventually.”“Will he really?
Didn't sound like it this time.”Kuroo peeked one eye open to
stare at his mom but couldn't help
but sigh in frustration when she only
sat down beside him on the bed.“You can't expect him to just hear this
and move on like nothing happened.
It was a shock to him and to me too
honestly. And he's right in saying
that it's not going to be easy.”“So you're on his side now?
You really came here to tell me that?”Tetsuro asked in disbelief,
his voice raising in anger.“As if I don't know that a child
is a huge responsibility.
You both really think I'm
stupid or what?!
But Kenma and I didn't decide
that just because we were
currently feeling like it.
Yes, we made a mistake a few
months ago and I regret not
being even more careful but
what happened, happened.
I can't change it and I'm ready
to face the consequences.”But his mother only sighed softly
as she took his hand to pat it gently.“You have such a good heart, Tetsuro.
Kenma is really lucky to have you.”She smiled softly when her son
tilted his head slightly at the sudden
change of his mother's attitude.“You know that I'm going to support
you no matter what and I'll try my
best to get your father comfortable
with this situation as fast as possible.
But you can't expect him to accept
it so fast, he's worried
about your future.”“My child is my future now.
And I'll do whatever it takes to
provide a good future to them.
Dad should relate to that more
than anyone else.”“Give him time.
He's going to be upset with
your decision, yes. But this is
your chance to prove it to him
that you're being serious about
what you said earlier.
And he's not going to hate your child,
I promise.”Tetsuro wanted to argue that of
course he had been serious earlier. He'd do anything to
make this work out.But his mother's last words made
the words got stuck in his throat.“You'll be a good dad, darling.”
And when his mother looked at him
with those warm eyes and soft smile,
he couldn't help but tear up a bit.“Did Kenma have his
first check up already?”“Mhm, two days ago.”
“So everything is fine?”
“Yeah, he said so.
He even showed me the sonogram.”Kuroo smiled softly as he thought of
the photo of the mini human bean,
as Kenma had called their baby.“That's great.
I hope you can show
me the sonogram soon too.”“Sweetie.”
“Hm?”
Kenma looked up from his Switch
when his mother entered his room,
a red box with white polka
dots in her hands.“I was in the basement looking
for my yoga mat but I found this
instead, I thought maybe you
wanted to have a look at it.”She smiled as she sat down beside
her son on the bed and handed
him the box.“What is this?”
“Open it.
I made this box to collect
the few memories I had of my
pregnancy and when you were
just born. Now that you..
decided to keep the baby,
I thought you might want
to have a look.”Kenma nodded and took the lid off to
take a look at all the things inside it.Seeing more things that were
directly linked to his mother's
pregnancy overwhelmed him a bit.Even if he now knew that
he wanted his baby, it didn't
mean that he already felt
completely comfortable being
pregnant and had accepted
his faith. So he instinctively picked up the
first thing he could recognize.“My little Kenma.”
His mother immediately cooed
when her gaze fell onto the sonogram
her son had picked up.“I think that was around
my 11th week.”“Almost as far as I am now.”
“Mhm. You were a pretty calm
and quiet baby when I was
pregnant with you.
After I had felt you move for
the first time, it took weeks for
your dad to feel it too because
you only had like five active
minutes per day.
Which were normally in
the middle of the night.”Mrs Kozume chuckled as she
picked up a small cream-colored
card and folded it open.“And when you were finally there,
you were just as quiet and calm.
The perfect baby.”‘Kozume Kenma,
2368g and 42,87cm.’“You were so small too.
Your dad was so scared to hold
you at first because you were
just a tiny, little baby.”Kenma looked at his mother
with big eyes, his lips curling
into a small smile at the way she
stared at the picture of her
newborn son with sparkling
eyes and a warm smile.Would he look like this too in
a few years when talking about
his newborn child?“I think my baby will be a bit bigger.
Dr Sato already mentioned
something like that..”“Yeah, with Kuroo's height,
it's not really a surprise, right?”Mrs Kozume chuckled before
she picked a tiny bracelet up.It was the bracelet the hospital
had put around newborn Kenma's
tiny wrist with all the data
and his full name.“It's so tiny.”
“Yeah.
I promise you, these tiny
limbs will make you go insane
because they're so adorable.
These tiny fingers and
these tiny toes.”And when Kenma looked at his
mom again, when he saw her being
so happy just talking about that
time and remembering all these
small details, he knew that she
was going to be such a
good grandma too.ꕥ
