Chapter 33: Dr. Iris Haberman

All Jamis ,and Henry would tell me about what they needed my help for was that I needed to help another mutant who was in a danger. They said that the danger that this fellow mutant was in was worse then death. How could that be possible? The reason they couldn't tell me anything else about the mission was ,because they were afraid that I might quit,and that somehow the information might get leaked out.

I also learned that Henry has Phd in genetic mutation, and used to be highly respected in the flied of genetics.

"So do you have any questions for me?" my brother suddenly says as he accidentally interrupts my thoughts "since you know it been along time since we've seen each other."

"I've got two." I reply.

"Okay go ahead."

"So am I suppose to call you Jimmy or Jamis?" I ask.

"Well I personally like Jimmy better ,but you can call me whatever you want." he answers.

"Okay Jimmy." I reply "number two why are your eyes hazel colored they used to be blue?"

"Well after I left the people from the Richardson Complex tried to kidnap me 2 more times , so I tried to change my appearance the most that I could." my brother replied "so I cut my hair short ,but until I met Henry that was all that I could change, but Henry invented these pieces of plastic ,so that when I put them over my eyes it changes the color."

"Hey guys we're here." Henry announces from in front. I look up ,and see that there is ranch style house in front of us as we pull into a concrete driveway. I look around ,and see that y we are completely surrounded  by forest. There is something very perplexing about the house. There is a wooden ramp that leads to the front door of the house.

The sun has risen already , so my brother had awoken me in the early hours of the morning.

Henry then stops the car in front of the house, and my brother Jimmy gets out of the car, and so do I ,but all Henry does is stay in the car, and opens his door. I watch Jimmy go to trunk of the car, open it, and lift out a folded up wheelchair from inside. Then he closes the trunk door , and unfolds the wheelchair,and wheels it over to Henry. Wait how can Henry drive a car if he can't use his legs?

"You ready?" I hear my brother say to Henry.

"Yep." Jimmy then lifts Henry into the wheelchair. I can tell by looking at Jimmy's face that it is hard for him to lift Henry ,but he is trying to hide it. Once Jimmy gets Henry into the wheelchair I hear Henry say:

"Thanks." and then he closes the front door, and heads towards the house,and me & Jimmy follow.

"Would you like some breakfast?" I hear Henry ask as I walk into the house "I'm sure you must be hungry."

"Yes please." I reply as I look around the house.

"Will toast do?"

"yeah sure."

About ten minutes later I sit at the dining table eating breakfast with Jimmy & Henry.

"Henry can I ask you a question?" I ask.

"Yeah sure what is it?"

"How come you can drive a car if you can't use you legs to use the pedals?"

"Well thanks to your brother he invented a machine that allows me use my hands to control the pedals."

"That's really smart." I comment.

"Yes it indeed." Henry says. Jimmy looks a little embarrassed by this conservation. He's never really liked when people call him out on things good or bad.

"So anyway I think we should explain the plan more to Emily." my brother says changing the subject as puts butter on a piece of toast. Then a knock comes from the front door.

"I'll get it." Henry says, and then he goes to the front door ,and greets whoever is there while I butter my toast. When I hear the sound of the front door closing I look over to see a tall women with almond colored skin walking next Henry.

"Emily this is Dr. Iris Haberman." Henry introduces.

"So your the famous Emily." Dr.Haberman says.

"I didn't know I was famous." Iris then sits down in a dining chair. It is then that I noticed her eyes. She has complete hetrochromia. A mutation.

Her left eye is blue while the right is brown.

"So have you told her the plan yet?" Dr. Haberman asks Henry & Jimmy.

"We were actually just about to." my brother answers.

"So does she know about the boy yet?" Dr. Haberman asks.

"Not really." Henry replies.

"Do you guys mind if I explain it to her?" Dr.Haberman asks.

"No it's fine." my brother replies ,and Henry agrees.

"Okay ,so Emily there is another mutant who escaped from the Richardson Complex who we have reason to believe that is in great danger."

"What danger is this mutant in?" I ask.

"See this mutant is a telepath, and the festival government wants to use him to find other mutants,but they already know he would never do that." Dr.Haberman begins " so there going to turn him into a robot basically."

"How are they going to do that?" I ask.

"Well they are to hook up the part of his brain that is telepathic to a computer ,and then there going to send his signals out using a satellite to find mutants, and then capture them." Dr. Haberman explained.

"That's awful" I replied in shock "why would they do that?"

"Do you know about the incident where Luke Coleman assaulted Andrew Maddox the director of the Richardson Complex?" Dr.Haberman asked.

"Yes I am familiar with it."

"Well because of that incident people have been more afraid of us ,because they think that all mutants are
like Luke." Dr. Haberman explained.

"You said there afraid of us ,so your a mutant as well?" I ask.

"Yes" she replies "everyone in this room is a mutant." I look around at the people in this room. Jimmy is a skinny, and short (he is only 5 feet (or 1.524 meters) tall)  Henry is in a wheelchair, I'm just a small girl, and Dr. Haberman she's tall ,but not threating she looks like she is more at home in a lab then in a battle flied, and yet we are all powerful on the inside.

"So what's the plan exactly?" I ask.

Author's Note:
What do you guys think of Henry? Is he to much like Professor X, because I am not trying to make a duplicate version of Professor X. The reason he is in a wheelchair though isn't to make him look like the professor. It is more because I want to show a character trait of his (that you'll see later in the story) ,and that is really the only way I can do it.
