Finally, everyone had left for their homes except Taehyung’s family. It was already late at night, so they decided to leave the next day. As a good host, Taehyung showed each of them to their rooms. He was currently showing Changbin in his room.
“Hyung, if you need anything, just call me, okay?” Taehyung said politely. Changbin sighed.
“Tae, can you stop worrying about other people for once? Go and get some rest. You’ve worked so hard today... go on, shoo.” As a protective brother, Changbin’s words held deep care that Taehyung could easily recognize.
Taehyung smiled faintly and was about to walk out when Changbin called after him.
“Tae.”
Taehyung stopped in his tracks and turned around. Changbin walked over to him, his expression soft.
“I hope you have a happy and healthy life... I still can’t believe my cute little brother has grown up so much that now he’s out here saving the world.” He reached out and ruffled Taehyung’s hair.
Taehyung smiled warmly and pulled Changbin into a hug.
“Hyung, I’m still your little brother. I didn’t grow up,” he said softly.
Changbin hugged him back, patting his back in that proud, protective way only an older brother could.
“Of course you are,” he chuckled.
“Now go. I’m sure Jungkook is dying to be with you. Go on, good night.” (With that, he gently turned Taehyung around and pushed him out before locking the door behind him.
As soon as Taehyung stepped into the hallway, he noticed Jungkook leaning against the wall beside the door frame. His mate’s soft gaze locked onto him, making Taehyung’s heart beat faster.
It had been a while since Jungkook’s stare had this effect on him. Without a word, Jungkook straightened up and approached him, his movements deliberate and unhurried. Words weren’t necessary as Jungkook reached out and gently intertwined their fingers.
Time seemed to slow for Taehyung as Jungkook’s deep eyes settled on their joined hands. His breath caught in his throat when Jungkook’s lashes flicked up, meeting his gaze. That’s when Taehyung realized how close their faces were.
Still silent, Jungkook began walking backward, guiding Taehyung along with him. Taehyung’s eyes never left Jungkook’s broad back as they moved towards their bedroom. Everything felt so familiar yet inexplicably new.

When they reached their room, Jungkook locked the door behind them. Taehyung stood beside the bed, suddenly feeling nervous. Why was he nervous? This wasn’t new—yet, it felt different.
He watched as Jungkook walked over to him, his presence commanding yet comforting. Gently, Jungkook guided him to sit on the bed. Taehyung thought Jungkook was going to kiss him, but instead, Jungkook knelt on the floor, wrapping his arms around Taehyung’s waist and resting his head on Taehyung’s lap.
Jungkook seemed to let go of all his worries, finding solace in the moment. The peace he felt was indescribable.
Taehyung smiled softly and began running his fingers through Jungkook’s hair. They stayed like that for some time, saying nothing, simply savoring each other’s warmth.
Taehyung’s delicate fingers gently massaged Jungkook’s forehead, sensing how tense his mate had been. This quiet intimacy spoke volumes, and neither of them needed words to feel the depth of their connection.
“Koo,” Taehyung finally called, breaking the silence. Jungkook had been sitting on the floor for a while now, unmoving.
“Koo, come on the bed. Then you can hug me as much as you want.”
