The night was calm, the faint hum of distant traffic barely audible through the window. Jimin sat on the edge of his bed, staring at his closet with a frown."I don’t even like parties," he muttered to himself, running a hand through his hair.
The thought of loud music, crowded spaces, and meaningless small talk made him feel restless. He leaned back on his hands, grab his phone , his eyes trailing to the photo on wallpaper .him and Jungkook, laughing on a sunny day. It had been so long since they spent time together, just the two of them.
Jimin sighed. Why does he want me to come? It’s not like I’ll enjoy it. He felt a pang of guilt for even thinking that. He knew Jungkook loved socializing and parties, but he didn’t understand why he couldn’t go alone this time.
The door creaked open, and Jungkook walked in, his bright smile fading slightly when he saw Jimin’s expression.
"Still not getting ready?" Jungkook asked, leaning against the doorframe.
Jimin hesitated. "I don’t know, Jk... I just..I don’t feel like going. You know I’m not good at these things."
Jungkook walked over and sat beside him. "Baby, it’s not about the party. It’s about spending time together. We barely go out anymore."
Jimin sighed and looked away. "I know, but can’t we just do something else? Something quieter? Just the two of us?"
Jungkook reached for Jimin’s hand, his touch warm and reassuring. "I get it. I really do. But it’s important to me that you come, just this once. We can leave early if you’re uncomfortable. Promise."
Jimin looked at Jungkook’s pleading eyes, and his resolve began to waver. "You’ll stay by my side the whole time?"
Jungkook grinned. "Every second."
Jimin exhaled heavily and nodded. "Alright. But if I hate it, you owe me a quiet weekend after this."
Jungkook laughed and kissed Jimin’s forehead. "Deal. Now, let’s get you ready."
As Jungkook walked over to the closet, pulling out options for Jimin to wear, Jimin couldn’t help but smile faintly. Even if the party wasn’t his thing, Jungkook was. And maybe, just maybe, it wouldn’t be so bad after all.
As they reached the party, a wave of nervousness washed over him. He stood outside the venue for a few moments, taking in the loud music and the energy that seemed to radiate from the crowd. His heart raced, and he couldn't shake the feeling that this wasn’t his scene. He adjusted his clothes, sighed, and took a deep breath.
"Come on, it's just a party. You’ll be fine," he whispered to himself, trying to gather his courage.
Just as he was about to step inside, his boyfriend, Jungkook, walked up to him with a reassuring smile. "You okay?" Jungkook asked, noticing the hesitation.
"I'm just... not sure if I belong here," Jimin admitted, his voice tinged with uncertainty.
Jungkook placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. "You don’t have to worry. I’m right here with you, always. Let’s just enjoy the night, alright?" he said, giving him a warm smile.
With Jungkook's comforting words, the Jimin felt a little more at ease and followed him inside.
The party was in full swing, with everyone dancing and laughing. Jungkook stuck close to his boyfriend, making sure he didn’t feel left out. He led him to the side of the dance floor where they could still enjoy the atmosphere but not be directly in the chaos. They stood there for a while, talking and laughing softly as the crowd swirled around them.
But after a while, Jungkook squeezed his boyfriend’s hand. "Hey, I’m going to dance. I’ll be right back, okay?" he said with a wink.
Jimins POV:
I nodded, though felt a slight pang in my chest. "I’ll just... watch for a bit," i said, trying to seem fine.
Jk smiled and went off to join the group of people who were dancing. I watched him move with ease through the crowd, but as Jk got swept up in the music, I started to feel more and more invisible. Everyone was having fun, but for a moment, I felt like i was the only one standing still, the only one not part of the chaos.
I sat down in a quieter corner, my eyes fixated on Jk , who was laughing and dancing with everyone. It wasn’t long i realized that everyone had, in a sense, forgotten about me. It doesn't hurt more than expected. Im used to being left out, especially when i had come here for Jk.
Suddenly,i saw a girl approached Jk, tapping him on the shoulder. She was smiling, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "Hey, do you want to dance?" she asked with a playful grin.
Jk looked a little surprised but then smiled and said, "Sure, let’s go."
My already hurted heart sank. felt a tight knot in chest as i watched them dance together. It was innocent nothing inappropriate was happening but to me, it felt like a betrayal. The music seemed to grow louder in my ears, and the lights seemed to flicker too brightly. My mind raced with insecurities. Was i not enough? Was this what i had been worried about?
I tried to push the thoughts away, but they kept coming, one after another.
"Why am I even here?" I whispered, feeling small in a room full of people.
Authors POV:
Jungkook, oblivious to his boyfriend’s growing discomfort, was still dancing, lost in the rhythm of the music. But Jimin couldn’t take it anymore. He stood up quickly, trying to walk out of the room, but just as he reached the door, Jungkook noticed him.
"Hey, where are you going?" Jungkook called out, his voice laced with concerned look.
Jimin stopped, turning around with a forced smile. "I just... I thought I’d get some air," he said, trying to sound casual.
Jungkook walked over to him, his face serious now. "Are you okay?" he asked, pulling him into a gentle hug. "You’re not alone. Don’t let anyone make you feel like you are."
Jimin felt his insecurities fading as Jungkook wrapped his arms around him. "I just got a little... overwhelmed," he admitted quietly. "I’m not really good with this... all of this."
Jungkook pulled back slightly, looking him in the eyes. "You don’t have to be. Just be yourself, and I’ll always be right here with you. Let’s go back inside. You can even stay with me while I dance, or if you want, we can leave. Whatever you need."
Jimin nodded, feeling the weight lift off his shoulders. "Thanks, Jk." I just needed to hear that."
And with that, they returned to the dance floor, where Jungkook stayed by his side the whole time, making sure he was comfortable. But deep down, Jimin knew that even if insecurities crept up again, he had someone who would always stand by him, no matter what.
