[The setting takes place at the ice rink where everything within the setting slows down. Clyde and Alyssa kiss each other for a moment, until Alyssa shoves him away. Alyssa is seen in an angry demeanor, whereas Clyde is left with confusion. A white light blinds the scene briefly, as we flash through the events from Clyde's perspective. The next scene shows brief segments of Clyde and Alyssa's conversation.]

Clyde: Alyssa? What's wrong?

Alyssa: I can't do this...

Clyde: What do you mean?

Alyssa: What do you think I mean? I can't do this!

[Kyle and Tiffany overhear the commotion.]

Kyle: Hey, Clyde, what's going on?

Clyde: I don't know! Alyssa, I'm sorry I reacted out of impulse. I thought this was what you wanted.

Alyssa: How could you, or anyone, possibly know what I want?

Clyde: You're right. I wouldn't. But you told me you wanted to give us a chance?

Alyssa: I thought I was... But this is too much for me.

[We flash forward to a moment later, where Alyssa has decided she is going to leave.]

Alyssa: I think... I'm going to head home.

[In another flash of light, we cut to Alyssa and Clyde walking home in separate ways. Alyssa is hiding her emotions while looking down, while Clyde is fully embracing his frustration, but his head is aimed down and his face is covered in a shadow. Soon, a white light blinds the screen until it eventually fades to the present day. Clyde jumps up from his bed to catch his breath in deep pants. Clyde has awakened himself in the middle of the night from what he thought was a nightmare. Clyde looks around to find himself in his bedroom as he tries to clear his head. He lays back down to check his phone to see the date is December 22. The lock screen showcases a picture between him, his friend and Alyssa at the convention from last month. Clyde remembers that it wasn't a nightmare and lets out a sigh, then speaks with a groggy, but depressed voice.]

Clyde: Oh, that's right.

[Clyde puts down his phone, then turns over to prepare himself to return to sleep.]

Clyde: I should've just stepped away.

Clyde: I should've just stepped away

ACT ONE:

[A few hours later, Clyde is still laying on his bed in a depressed state. The lights are off and his covers are scoured all over his bed. A knocking noise is heard from the other end of the doorway, and Clyde's sister, Lena, calls out to him. Her voice is soft, and distant, as she spoke with a dear but concerned tone.]

Lena: Hey, Clyde, are you doing okay?

[Lena peeks through the doorway to see Clyde isn't facing the door.]
