GENERAL QUALITIES: 46/50

Title: 5/5

Flawless. It promises suspense and more than what is expected, perfectly delivering the ambiance and meaning behind the title, as well as summarizing the plot in just three words.

Book Cover: 4/5

The intrigue of the creepiness and thrill behind the cover is giving. I like every detail of it from the font text choice to the depiction of the eye glimpsing into the Oblivion world. However, I do feel like the text in the top can be presented better by capitalizing all the letters or capitalizing the important words in the line 'your life was just a game.' I also noticed a long space between the words 'life' and 'was' that must be managed.

Blurb: 5/5

Very interesting that introduces a unique/uncommon element to the story that makes readers want to read the story. Brief but enough to show what to expect from the story and immediately captures the interest of readers who come upon it.

Characters: 8/10

The characters were well-established, giving their conflicts and desires right away. We can immediately understand what April and Tyler want, considering that their desires are related to them being tied to their own Oblivion which shapes their desires to want to break free from it. It also makes them have internal struggles of their own. I also like how April has become numb to killing as she's used to this many times, defining her will to survive. I like both the characters; their motivations and backgrounds give readers reasons to care for them and root for them to win. Their situation also makes readers realize that simply going with the pacifist way is not as easy as they are living in the way of the 'survival of the fittest.' The only drawbacks I noticed were first, for April, we get to see her in action in one of her Oblivion and by the end of the chapter, she reveals that she is a Telekinetic. Yet, I did not see any sort of phenomena related to telekinesis, only that she wields a knife as a weapon. I don't think I also remember any description of the object, or any object at all, floating or bending out of shape. Though, her power may not be referring to the usual abilities people commonly perceive with the power of Telekinesis, but I'm pretty sure I just read April using her wits and physical strength to solve the puzzle of the trap without anything related to mind powers or telekinesis. If it did, then it may have been written too subtly, which contrasts these moments where the characters' special strengths are highlighted for readers to remember and have a significant idea of their identity. I recommend putting strong and apparent descriptions about April using her telekinetic powers, or describe how the power of telekinesis works in that world. Another flaw is the probable inconsistency with Tyler's character, where Chapter 2 indicates he has a girlfriend from the instance of their call while he was in his Oblivion, then by Chapter 6, he has an inner monologue of how alone he is and doesn't mention or think of his girlfriend at all? If the case was that he didn't like her that much, wouldn't it be within him to at least mention her as to why despite having her, he still feels that way? I felt confused, I checked back to Chapter 2 if this was the same person. I get that not all partners can be that important to a person, but from their conversation during the call and how he calls her his pretty princess, doesn't that indicate how close they are, thus meritting him a moment to acknowledge that his girl is a big part of his life and include it in his monologue? I'm not sure if I missed anything about their relationship but this part had me quite baffled as we were introduced to Tyler having a sweet relationship in the first and the next, he has a monologue about how lonely he is. Do fix the inconsistency, either Tyler really values his girlfriend or not, or is he meant to have a girlfriend in the story. If I did miss anything, do write it in a stronger description too, similar to April's character flaw.
