Chapter 18: The Magic Snowball (Part 1)

In this chapter, it all starts with a scene where everyone is slumped in the common room, complaining about how bored they are. ENFP is drawing mustaches on a math book, while ISTJ, horrified, gives him disapproving looks. ENTP, of course, is in the middle of explaining a complicated theory that no one is paying attention to.

That's when ESFP, all excited, comes in with her famous magic snowball.

ESFP: "Guys, I have the solution to our boredom! My magic snowball! It can answer all our questions with yes or no!"

Everyone looks at her, incredulous. ISTP, who doesn't even look up from his phone, lets out a sigh.

INTJ (jaded): “This nonsense again…”

No one really pays attention at first, until ESFP starts shaking the ball. It asks a simple question:

ESFP: “Are we going to have fun today?”

The ball starts flashing and displays a big “Yes”. Surprised, the MBTI exchange looks, still skeptical. But little by little, curiosity wins over them.

ENFP (laughing): “Okay, if this ball is so magical, will ISTJ end up liking the unexpected?”

The ball flashes for a few moments before displaying a categorical “No”, causing bursts of laughter in the room.

ISTJ (red with embarrassment): “Ridiculous…”

The questions continue, increasingly bizarre.

ENTP (mischievous): “Will INTP’s next invention explode?”  »

Again, the snowball displays "Yes," and INTP shakes his head, amused but not offended.

INFP (gentle): "Oh, I think that's funny, we should try to make a game out of it."

ESFP, elated that his friends are finally interested in his snowball, suggests that they take turns shaking it to come up with an activity idea. They ask the snowball to respond to all sorts of suggestions. And each time, the snowball displays "No," "No," "No"... until ISFP suggests a wilderness camping trip.

To everyone's surprise, the magical snowball displays a glowing "Yes."

ESFP (jumping): "We're going camping!"

The group agrees, and everyone happily starts planning a camping trip. But what ESFP doesn't know is that the snowball had mysteriously disappeared from his room last week.  It was none other than INTJ who had hidden it, no longer able to stand the incessant and absurd questions that ESFP was asking of this ball. But he had not anticipated that the snowball would be brought back into their lives in force, and even less that it would lead to a campsite.

INTJ (in a low voice): "I will never be able to get rid of it..."

But everyone is now too busy preparing their bags to notice his disillusioned expression.

The scene ends on a happy note, with everyone, in a good mood, preparing the campsite. ESFP, particularly delighted, is proud of having managed to gather her friends around her precious object. However, a slight mystery hangs over this snowball which now seems to be the center of all attention.

And without anyone suspecting it, this little ball would soon become the source of a great conflict: who would deserve to possess such power?
