Always Happens To Me

chapter 16

2 WEEKS LATER **

MARI'S POV 

These last two weeks have been on and off with the police. An investigation about the death of James, and Gavin and I have been questioned several  times but we were cleared when we explained what had happened. 

My phone starts ringing, I look at the caller ID and its unknown but I answer it, " Hello," I say quietly. 

"Why hello sister, I was seeing on Tv that you and another guy killed a gang leader, and our parents want to go visit you." 

"Why would they want to do that, they hate me, I don't need them anywhere near me!", I scream at him. 

I hear the door open and spot Gavin, Gavin and I have lived in the same apartment for a week now, since he weren't allowed to go to work till the news leave us alone. He stares and mouths, " What's going on," I shake my head. 

"Look Cade," I say," I don't want them near me so if they do come to LA and disturb my newly found peace, I will have a restraining order put in order!!" 

Gavin grabs my phone and says," Look here Cade, if Mari doesn't want you near her, don't get near her." 

Cade hangs up and Gavin asks "What was that all about?" 

"Okay you know how James always said that he would expose my secret, thing is my parents are actors/directors and my older brother is an actor and they all thought I would do the same but I din't want to do that so I took a degree in literature and become an editor and my parents were disappointed and kicked me out of our house when all the paparazzi were outside the house, and I won''t get any of the inheritance because I followed my dreams," I say ending up crying. 

Gavin sits on the couch and gives me a hug, ever since the night he killed James he has treated me like a fragile doll. "Hey Mari it will be fine, everything will be alright," he says and tightens his hug. 

He's always been hear for he ever since I met him, he will never let happen what wanted with James and my family. He wouldn't forget about me, like they always had. 

I decide to do what I had been thinking about doing for a while now, I kissed him. He was taken by surprise he but he kissed me back. I linked my arms around  his neck and his arms  went to my waist. 

I stopped and said," I'd been waiting to do that for a while now," while running my hands through his hair. 

"well I'm glad you did that because It was amazing,"

"Gavin what if my parents an brother are to come to LA.." 

"Everything will be alright."
