The campfire's light had faded, leaving the cabin dark except for the glow of a nightlight plugged into the wall. Taehyung laid on the bottom bunk, staring at the wooden boards above him.

Today, the boys decided to sleep separately. The decision wasn't on them, really. Jungkook was conversing with an acquaintence from one of his classes, and accidentally spilled the "secret" that Taehyung and him shared the same bed, despite having a bunk bed for themselves. Jungkook, too embarassed, decided to sleep separately after the look his "friend" had given him. As for Taehyung, he just went along with it because refusing would make him look like the pervert.

Jungkook shifted on the top bunk, making the frame squeak. Taehyung smiled to himself, already bracing for the boy's complaint.

"Your feet are too big," Jungkook muttered, his voice muffled by the pillow. "You're practically kicking me in my sleep."

Taehyung grinned, lifting one leg to lightly thump it against the bottom of Jungkook's mattress. "They're not big. You're just small, princess."

"Small?" Jungkook scoffed, peeking over the edge of the top bunk. His hair stuck up in every direction, a pout visible in the dim light. "I'll have you know I'm way more rugged  and wild than you."

Taehyung snorted, folding his arms behind his head. "Right. That's why you screamed like a child when that squirrel ran toward you during the hike today. And why you have an extensive 10-step skincare routine."

"That thing wasn't running," Jungkook retorted, his voice rising in pitch. "It was charging. I swear it had something against me. And men can care for their skin too, asshole."

"Totally. Vicious killer squirrel. I'm surprised you survived."

Jungkook rolled his eyes but couldn't stop the laugh coming out of him. He flipped back onto his mattress.

They went back and forth like that for a while, their voices soft, trying to cover their laughter. Eventually, Jungkook went quiet, and Taehyung thought he fell asleep. But then there was the sound of rustling as Jungkook climbed down the ladder, his feet hitting the wooden floor with a thud.

"What are you doing?" Taehyung asked, amused, as Jungkook crawled onto the bottom bunk beside him.

"This bunk is more comfortable," Jungkook said matter-of-factly. Riiighht. As if that explained everything.

Taehyung raised an eyebrow. "Or you just don't like sleeping alone."

"Shut up," Jungkook muttered, shoving Taehyung lightly before settling in.

Taehyung didn't say anything else. He shifted to make room, the narrow bed forcing them closer together until their legs tangled.

"Goodnight, princess," Taehyung murmured, feeling Jungkook's head rest against his shoulder.

"Goodnight, Tae," Jungkook replied, already half-asleep.

As their breathing evened out, Taehyung's arm automatically wrapped around Jungkook's waist. It had become a habit during their time at camp. Neither of them commented on it, but neither seemed to mind it, either.

Hours passed, and Taehyung woke suddenly. The weight of Jungkook's body against his side gone. Blinking, he glanced around the cabin, adjusting to the dim light. Jungkook was still beside him, curled on his side, barely touching him now.

The chilly air reminded Taehyung why he'd woken up. With a soft sigh, he carefully got out of bed, grabbing the flashlight from the nearby nightstand. He walked quietly to the door, opening it as quietly as he could, trying not to wake Jungkook.
