My heart was beating a mile a minute. Tonight was getting me pretty nervous. I'm not sure why I'm so nervous. I shouldn't be. I was the one who didn't want to make such a big deal about prom in the first place.
Everyone was meeting here at Nate's house tonight. Sam's parents were over to have dinner with Nate's parents. So Sam was already here. Kami and Lori were helping me get ready in my room. They weren't letting Nate or Sam see me yet.
Kami did my hair. Lori did my makeup. I stayed silent the whole time as the two of them talked. I just listened to my breathing. Trying to calm my nerves down.
"Alright makeup is done." Lori said backing away from me. I smiled at her and laughed a little.
"It's not to much right?" I asked.
"Of course not sweetheart. Just a little to bring out your eyes." She replied.
"Well you can go have a look now that your hair is done." Kami spoke up while setting down the hair straightener.
I took in a deep breath then got up off of my chair. I walked over to the mirror hanging on my wall that stretched from the ceiling to the floor.
My eyes fell on my entire self. I've never looked so nice before. My hair was all straight, parted to one side. The colors in it still showing perfectly. It goes from dark at the top, then lighter as you get to the tips. My dark turquoise color dress was perfect for me. It was sparkly on the top and went over only one of my shoulders. It clung to my waist then flared out after. Stopping before my knees. I was wearing silver heels to match it.
"Well? Do you like it?" Kami asked walking up behind me.
I was shocked. Words couldn't form in my mind to tell how amazing I felt right now. So I just nodded my head and smiled.
"Sam will definitely like this. You have my word." Lori told me. Appearing beside Kami.
I smiled and turned to the two of them. "Thank you so much for helping me. I couldn't have done it by myself." I thanked them then hugged them both.
"You're welcome Riley." Kami said.
"Alright, let's get you upstairs to show the boys." Lori laughed.
I nodded and grabbed my phone off of my bed. They walked up the stairs in front of me. I walked up slowly. Holding onto the railing to keep me from falling. Lori and Kami were already up, talking to whoever was in the room about me. I heard Sam's voice and instantly smiled.
When I came up the stairs I looked to see Sam and Nate standing near the front door. I stopped in my tracks and just stared at Sam. His face filled with shock at the sight of me.
"Damn Riley, you know how to dress up that's for sure." Nate chuckled. My eyes moved to him at his voice.
"I can say the same to you boys." I laughed.
Lori cleared her throat and Sam instantly shook his head back to reality and straightened himself.
"I'll be right back." He smiled at me then went into the kitchen. I looked at Lori confused. She just smiled and talked to Kami.
The sound of the doorbell caused Nate to turn and answer the door. The Jacks, Leigh and Mallory were here. Just then Sam came back into the room. There was a clear box in his hands. When he came closer I saw that there were flowers in it.
"My mom helped me get this." He told me, opening it up.
They were lillies. My favorite.
"How'd you know these were my favorite?" I asked letting out a little laugh.
