I stopped the first bus once I heard him pulling his gate. The Noah bus pulled over. Weh mi a guh siddung?

The driver must have seen the look on my face and chuckled.

"Yuh can hold inna the back baby how yah gwaan so?" he looked over his shoulder. "Make some space inna the back."

The two guys in the extreme back of the bus both shifting to the corner. I sighed. Clearly I'm about to be sandwiched.

Den buy yuh own car if yuh nuh wah tek squeeze.

"Step pan the sup'm dwag," one muttered, then the seat flies up. I climbed up, making my way over to the back.

The driver leaned over, adjusting the seat, and the passenger slid in. The door clicked shut, and with a shift of gears, he drove off.

"Turn off the flashlight muma," I looked over at the guy on my left. He wore a hoodie. My eyes moved to my phone, the light illuminating the dark space.

I turned it off and felt the bus slowing down.

I heard footsteps.

My mind told me to look back. Once I do, I'm irritated all over again. Him run me out a him house, now him a run back a the bus too?

Mschtttttttt!

Him need fi make up him mind.

"Mi full enuh mi dwag," the driver poked his head out, then he spoke. Once he did, every single hair on my body stood up.

"Tek har fare out a this," I looked up to see him stretching what looked like a 5 grand to the driver. I rolled my eyes.

"Nav no smaller change?" The driver asked.

"Driver me have work eno," a woman sitting directly behind the driver whined, chewing her gum, staring ahead. Her hands crossed over her handbag.

He shot a look at her, eyes cold as ice, then turned his attention back to the driver.

Who him think fraid a him?

"People have places to be," I mumbled, and saw that he was digging his back pockets. He didn't bother to look at me. He found the change, paid my fare then as the driver pulled off, he used the ring on his middle finger to knock the back, exactly where I was.
