"How are your interviews?" Nijaa's voice blared through my earbuds.

I did two interviews earlier.

The third person had me waiting...

I kept waiting...

...and waiting.

I wasn't spending another hour in this chair. "Watch him face.." Nijaa teased. "Yuh face alone make me know they're not going so good at all."

"Better me did have Gabby a do this," I sighed, then saw Nijaa's glare.

"Why you a randomly think of that girl?" Nijaa crossed her arms. "You a think bout that girl when I'm not around?"

I laughed and shake my head.

"No nutt'n like dat mamas. True me know how you stay... yuh probably would a make all a the b dem scared. Cause yuh too blunt and scary sometimes, especially when a your time o' the month."

Her mouth fell into an 'O'.

"Scary? That's... that's how yuh talk about your wife?" she's 'offended' it seems.

So dramatic.

"Nijaa. Relax."

I heard someone coming, heavy footsteps, like a giant.

I glanced toward the sound, then turned my eyes back to the FaceTime screen on Nijaa. She was rinsing her face with rice water, her smile pretty.

"From mi pregnant.... My acne's are getting worst.. and my face was smooth," she pouted. She had a round bump in her forehead.

"Yo... the level of self control yuh have," I shook my head, imagining how I'd hold her down and pop that shit.

She made up her face, staring at me. "A who that?" she must've heard the heavy ass footsteps.

"We bout to see now," I relaxed in my chair, a bit annoyed at whoever that was. I told them the interview started 10 AM sharp.

It's now 10:30.

Imagine being late and loud.

"Person 30 minutes late," I shook my head. "Wah mi fi do wid dem?"

"Ketch the 'we'll let you know syndrome," she coughed playfully then she laughed out.

"Wah?" I laughed too.

Issa mad head this enuh..

"It's like saying... we'll be in touch soon. But really that means... we'll be in touch... or not at all. Goodbye! Or 'It was great meeting you. We'll follow up shortly... that equals never. It was polite, not promising."
