Kai looks at me his eyes dark and intently set in all the wrong places.
"Hey eyes up here", I say making him groan.
He throws his hands up in surrender irritated that he's even been caught.
"It's not my fault you unexpectedly clean up a bit too well when it comes to professional business attire", he says humor evident in his voice.
"Of course, I do when do I not", I say giving him a daring look while I take off the jewelry from my wrists and neck.
"You don't exactly look bad yourself", I say looking at him with a glint in my eye making him suck in a breath.
"What did I say about giving me that look", he says a dangerous edge to his deep voice.
Kai was looking extra fine today.
He was in a clean-cut all-black suit, and his thick dark black hair, which was messy, somehow looked perfect on him.
On the other hand, I was wearing a slightly flared jumpsuit that hugged my hips in all the right places and featured a fancy belt and matching watch pair.
It was unfortunate I had to now take the perfect pristine outfit off.
The reason for us dressing up wasn't exactly a good thing because we had just finished the final hearing in court, It was like the final thing to wrap all this bullshit up and Kai was right beside me every step of the way which was quite reassuring, especially being in such a serious space.
The whole thing was intense and I will for sure see some of the faces of my perpetrators before I go to sleep tonight. To think some of them used to be on a level of closeness with me makes me sick to my fucking stomach.
Rick, Sierra, Izzy, Carter, Austin, and Jake are all people who don't spiritually exist to me anymore, and as soon as that hearing finished were presences that I officially left in the past.
Rick was charged with life for attempted murder twice while the rest of them are in there for 7-10 years depending on behavior in prison for the attempted murder that luckily left me in just a coma. Their faces as everything was happening made them look like they expected their fate all of them except for Rick.
Rick was troubled and looked at me glaring the whole time, he wanted to affect me and disturb me yet he embarrassingly failed. The fire behind his eyes was so evident that it needed to be put out for the well-being of those around him.
On a lighter note, Demi had finally phoned us from Cali saying she survived the surgery and was even able to send some notes as evidence for the hearing. In my books, she was a victim too and I hope one day she seeks out the right kind of peace and help she needs.
I'm just so glad that the worst is all over
I zero in on a silver zipper on the navy blue jumpsuit and realize it's stuck on something.
