AFTER 2 MONTHS

It had been two months since I last opened Haroon's diary. Life had started to feel like a blur, with every day looking the same. Meeral was my only source of light, and even her innocent questions about her baba made my heart ache. I was folding clothes in my room when my phone buzzed with an unknown international number.

I frowned, thinking it was just another spam call, but something pushed me to answer. "Hello?" I said cautiously.

There was a pause on the other end, and then a woman's voice broke the silence. "Is this Mrs. Umair Sha?"

A strange chill ran down my spine. My throat dried, and I stammered, "Yes... this is me. Who is this?"

"Mrs. Sha, I am calling from XYZ International Hospital. Congratulations. Your husband, Captain Haroon Sha, has woken up from his coma after several years."

The world around me froze. My heart felt like it had stopped beating. "W-what?" I whispered, my voice trembling.

The woman continued, "Captain Haroon Sha was admitted here after surviving a plane crash. He has been in a coma all this time. As soon as he woke up, he started asking for you and calling your name."

I felt my knees buckle as I sat on the floor, clutching the phone tightly. My vision blurred with tears. "You're saying... Haroon is alive?"

"Yes, Mrs. Sha. He is alive, and he is asking for you. We need you to come as soon as possible."

I couldn't speak. My hand covered my mouth to stifle the sobs escaping me. All this time, I thought he was gone. All these nights, crying myself to sleep, believing I had lost him forever. And now, he was alive?

I hung up the call, shaking and crying uncontrollably. I ran downstairs, tears streaming down my face. Haroon's entire family was sitting in the living room. They looked up, alarmed by my state.

"Maham? Kya hua?" my mother-in-law asked, standing up in concern.

I could barely get the words out. "Haroon..." I choked, gasping for air. "Haroon is alive. He's alive!"

Everyone froze, their expressions shifting from confusion to shock.

My father-in-law stepped forward, his voice trembling. "Maham, what are you saying? Yeh kya keh rahi ho?"

I wiped my tears and repeated, "Haroon is alive. I just got a call. He was in a coma... all this time... but he woke up. He's been calling for me!"

The room erupted into chaos. My mother-in-law fell into the nearest chair, covering her face as she broke into sobs. Ramsha and Huzaifa, Haroon's younger siblings, stared at me, their eyes wide with disbelief.

"Yeh sach hai?" Huzaifa whispered, his voice cracking.

I nodded, still crying. "Yes... he's alive. He's at a hospital abroad. We need to go to him."

Ramsha hugged me tightly, her tears soaking my shoulder. "Bhabhi, I can't believe this. Bhai is alive... Allah ka shukar hai."

My father-in-law, who was usually a composed man, had tears in his eyes as he placed his hand on my head. "Beta, Haroon ka wapas aana ek moajza hai. We will leave as soon as possible."

The room was filled with a mix of sobs, prayers, and disbelief. My mother-in-law, through her tears, grabbed my hands. "Maham, you were so strong for all of us. Now, our Haroon is coming back. Allah ka shukar ada karo."

I nodded, overwhelmed with emotions. Meeral, too young to understand fully, clung to my leg and looked up at me.

I picked her up and kissed her forehead, my tears falling onto her tiny face.
