"Y/N..." Jeff whispered, leaning over to gently put his hand on her arm.
She stirred, looking up at him.
"What?" She murmured, still half asleep.
Jeff scooted a bit closer, wrapping his arms around her waist and pulling her close. Her back was flush against his chest, and she didn't protest.
Y/N yawned again before falling back asleep.
Jeff sighed with relief that she didn't freak out. He started to get lost in thought, resulting in him thinking out loud.
"I never should have run off without you into those woods," he said quietly. "It was a stupid prank anyway."
Y/N made a small sound, turning around in his arms and looking at him with sleepy eyes. She stared at his face, trying to determine if he was joking or not.
"So I'm not crazy?" She asked quietly, carefully brushing a lock of his hair from his face.
"You're still crazy," Jeff said softly, "but you're home."
~~fast forward to Christmas morning~~
Y/N and Jeff woke up to the sound of flanking in the living room. Y/N sat up groggily, rubbing her eyes with Jeff reaching to his nightstand for eye drops.
"What the hell..." she mumbled.
"I'm getting it's Tobes; what's your guess?" Jeff smirked, rolling his eyes with the contact solution in them.
Y/N tilted her head.
"Maybe Ben?" She said, getting out of bed and putting a pair of Jeff's sweatpants on.
He chuckled, standing up, but suddenly, the bedroom door crashed open.
A fluffy and stubby red husky burst through the door with a black bow wrapped around its abdomen. Toby was short to follow.
"Slendy got us a puppy!" Toby exclaimed.
The dog was eager to jump on the bed and stand on top of Jeff, licking his face.
"Gah!!" Jeff said, turning his face and trying to turn his head away.
Y/N laughed, and so did Toby.
Jeff spat the dog slobber out of his mouth, sitting up and holding the dog's scruff. He looked at the collar, which has a big smile on it.
"Well, look at you; we are too unalike," he smirked, scratching behind the pup's ears. He looked at the bow before looking at the name tag. Y/N leaned over, patting the dog on the back.
Toby giggled.
"It's a very smiley dog," Toby said as Jeff read the tag.
Toby pulled off the bow and tossed it aside, pocketing the little note.
Jeff picked up the dog like a baby, and it rested its head on top of Jeff's.
"Smile dog," Jeff said, seeing the name as more than fitting.
"Did Toby get a gift?" Y/N asked, tilting her head as Jeff brought the dog into the dining area.
Toby perked up and jumped in the air like a kid on Christmas morning.
"COME ON, COME SEE," he squealed excitedly. He ran down the hallway, shaking so much he could probably pop like a confetti cannon.
Y/N chuckled and walked into the living room, seeing Ben sitting on the couch with a brand new Nintendo Switch.
"Wow, the new guy gets gifts too?" Jeff teased, setting Smile down on the carpet.
Ben scoffed, zapping the Nintendo with his glitchy abilities to instantly charge it.
EJ was in the kitchen with bowls all over the counter and ingredients scattered; he even had multiple cookbooks open.
Jeff scratched the back of his head.
"I didn't know he could cook," he said, scratching the back of his head.
"Me neither," Y/N said.
Toby directed their attention to the tree, which was piled with gifts that nearly engulfed the whole thing.
"Holy shit," Jeff said, sitting on the carpet. Smile was quick to follow, setting his head in Jeff's lap.
Toby pulled gifts out from under the tree, pushing them toward the middle. Y/N looked at the names on the package.
"Cat Hunter, Sally, Jane, Kate..." Y/N raised an eyebrow. "I guess there are a few I haven't met, huh?" She said, though she did recognize those names.
"They don't come around often," Toby said, picking up a box and sliding it toward Jeff. "It's kind of hard to find a place in these woods once you lose it."
Y/N nodded, setting the other gifts aside. Toby pulled out an average-sized box.
"This one's for you," he smiled brightly, offering it to Y/N. She took it in her hands, slightly surprised.
Jeff had already opened his other gift, which was a new combat knife. Toby opened another of his gifts. He gleamed when he found out it was a raccoon tail keychain.
Y/N looked at the box. It has black paper and thin white ribbon around it. She untied the bow, ripped the paper, and opened the box underneath.
"What is it?" Toby asked, his snoopy curiosity piqued.
She slowly unwrapped the tissue paper, revealing a thin and dainty key.
"A key," she said, looking at the engravings on the key. Jeff raised an eyebrow.
"Like a car key?" He asked, almost hopeful. She shook her head.
"No, it looks ancient," she said, holding it up in the light. The teeth of the key had a strange pattern, and the handle of it was a circle with two slashes through it, creating a cross. Toby's eyes flickered with recognition.
"Whoa, wait," he said, pulling up the side of his T-shirt to reveal the same symbol tattooed on his hip.
Jeff looked at Toby's tattoo before pulling down the collar of his shirt, revealing the same tattoo right under his collarbone.
She looked back down at the key.
"I wonder what it goes to," Jeff said, leaning his head over on Y/N's shoulder as he looked over the key.
"I have no idea..."
