At Dinner:

The group was all sat at the dining room table with warm food crowded in the middle. Almost all of them were smiling and fishing out portions of mashed potatoes, pies, bread, and other foods.

Eyeless Jack pulled a large ham from the oven, setting it on the table.

"So this is what you were yapping about when you said ham," Jeff said, scooping bites into his mouth.

"It's delicious," Y/N said, smiling.

EJ seemed delighted, even though his reaction was mainly neutral.

Toby sat awkwardly with EJ hovering over him. Jack was slicing the ham and didn't realize he was in Toby's personal bubble. It made Toby's face beet red as he was practically smothered by Jack's chest.

Jeff occasionally tossed a piece of ham at his feet for Smile Dog, happy about his new pet.

Christmas dinner was a huge success, and everyone seemed to be happy for once. It made Y/N miss her universe even more, and she paused. She twirled the key in her pocket, staring at her plate.

Jeff put a hand on her shoulder.

"You alright?" he asked.

"Yeah," she said, blinking away her daze, "I'm good," she smiled.

After dinner, everyone helped clean up, and all the presents had been opened. The tree still glimmered with hope in the dreary cabin of the pastas. Everyone slowly separated back into their regular business, like Liu and Ben. The rest were in the living room.

Toby slumped against the couch. "I don't think I've ever been so full in my entire life," he mumbled.

Jeff and Y/N sat next to each other on the floor, Smile in Jeff's lap.

"The food was great, Jack," Jeff smiled.

"I don't think I've ever seen you smile," she said, looking at him.

His smile immediately folded into a deep scowl.

"It's not a bad thing!" She laughed softly, patting his chest.

"Whatever," Jeff rolled his eyes, placing his hand on top of her head.

Jack stared at everyone on the couch, holding a plate of cookies, which he set on the table.

"Family," Jack said softly.

Everyone paused, looking up at him speechless. Who knew that a cannibalistic monster could be so... sweet?

"Aw..." Y/N melted.

"I guess it's the closest I'll get," Jeff said, wrapping his arm around Y/N.

"Agreed," Toby smiled, sitting up on the couch. Ben shrugged.

"I think I'm going to call it a night," Toby said, standing up. "I have a mission tomorrow."

They said their goodnights as Toby walked outside. EJ followed after Toby without a word.

Jeff and Y/N looked at Ben, who was on his switch.

"What? I sleep on the couch. Did you expect me to leave so you could make out?" The blond said in a snarky voice.

Y/N blushed, and Jeff nudged him.

"We should probably head to bed anyway," he said, helping Y/N up.

Her and Jeff went down the hallway, Smile following loyally behind.

Jeff stopped in the middle of the hallway, where no one would see. He looked at Y/N with an unsure look on his face, contemplating something.

Y/N almost instantly noticed.

"What's wrong?" She asked softly.

Jeff took a deep breath, glancing at Smile before looking back up at her.

"I think I know where that key goes," he said quietly, soft enough that only she could hear.

Her eyes brightened.

"Really? Where?" She asked.

He hesitated for a moment before holding her hand and bringing her into his room's bathroom.

Y/N looked confused as she watched him crouch down under the sink. He used a pocket knife to cut out the wallpaper, and it revealed a small door.

Y/N's heart dropped, and he gripped the key in her pocket. She could remember that.

Jeff traced his finger against the wood of the door before looking at her.

"I think it's your way home," he said flatly, watching Smile Dog sit next to where Y/N stood.

She pulled the key from her pocket, her mind suddenly buzzing with second thoughts.

"How did you... know about this?" Y/N asked softly, "Why didn't you tell me sooner?"

"For the first question," Jeff stood up, pocketing his hands, "I've been having weird memories, memories that aren't mine. It's like seeing my life in another universe. For the second question..."

He swallowed thickly, leaning against the wall.

"I didn't want you to leave," he said quietly.

Y/N's eyes watered slightly at his admission, and a sickly feeling brewed in her gut. She stared at the key before kneeling down and putting it in the lock. It was a perfect fit. She didn't turn it yet, like there was something holding her back.

Jeff looked away, as if he was unable to bear the sight of her leaving.

She pulled the key out, letting a few tears roll down her cheeks. She quickly stood up and grabbed Jeff by his face, pressing their lips together with as much passion as she could.

Jeff jumped slightly before gently holding her arm; he pulled away breathless.

"Don't do this to me if you're going to go," he said, his voice sounding shattered.

Y/N wiped away her tears.

"I'm not going to leave," she whispered, brushing a piece of hair out of his face.

Jeff stared at her before quickly pulling her into another kiss, cupping the back of her neck with his calloused hands.

For once she had found what she had been looking for.

She found a home.

End.
