"Reyna! Reyna! Wake up!"

Thump. Thump. Thump.

She frowns and turns over, ignoring the noise. It's too early in the day.

"Neon! If she isn't waking up, go get Sage!"

"She isn't responding either, Jett!"

"Si-bal—augh! Fine! I'll go get KAY/O!"

That shoots Reyna straight up. And Sage too.

Sage?

They look at each other. The dark circles beneath Sage's eyes look less severe than they had the past few days. Hair messy with sleep, face fresh and eyes that sparkle in the gentle morning light that stream in from the slated window.

Sage's cheeks redden.

"Well, looks like someone slept well," Reyna teases. Yet, her own heart is traitorously aflutter. Their kiss, the soft words Sage had spoken to her, the peek of her pale skin beneath the torn singlet she wears. Reyna's singlet. Her body is on fire, every nerve alight with the tension that Sage seems to bring everywhere with her—the unique feeling that Reyna's only felt around her since they met at the Cinco de Mayo.

Sage clears her throat, shuffles awkwardly in the bed, and Reyna thinks, oh, what a sight. It melts something in her. She isn't sure if she likes it, but it makes her feel warm.

"Reyna!" Comes the pounding on the door again. "Reyna! You gotta come! Wait, no, Jett's getting KAY/O, so maybe you shouldn't...?"

It's Neon.

Reyna exchanges a puzzled glance with Sage, then rises and pads over to the door, opening it with a palm over the reader. Sage yelps something in Chinese and immediately ducks out of sight behind the bed.

Neon looks more frazzled than she typically does, decked out in all her equipment; the bracer keeping her Radiance in check struggles to keep all of her in check now, and she's breathing deeply.

Reyna calls her back down to Earth by waving a hand over her face. "Yes, cariño?"

"Reyna! Good, you're awake. Do you know where Sage is?" she rasps.

Despite the urge to rat her out, Reyna can feel the bore of Sage's eyes through the thickness of her bed frame and mattress.

So she leans her hip against the door frame and shakes her head with a twist of her lips. "I'm afraid not, little one. What's got you so winded?"

"The blackmailer is wandering free!" Neon all but exclaims, hands flailing around to accent the emergency. The hair on Reyna's arms and nape stand on air. The blackmailer? Walking free?

"Could it be an illusion?" Reyna prods gently. It wouldn't be too far of a stretch when the whole headquarters is on edge.

"I would recognise her anywhere." Neon shakes her head. "She's in the Range. Just sitting there."

"I'll go take a look myself." Reyna makes to retreat back into her room, but Neon catches her wrist so quickly she can't react to it. This girl...

"Jett already went to get KAY/O." Then as if getting a hold of herself, she drops her hand. "It's probably not a good idea for you to go...right?"

Reyna sighs. She does have a point. "Okay, contact me if there are further complications. I have a score to settle with her," she snarls, eyes narrowed.

Neon nods hurriedly, and dashes off.

Sage gets up off the floor and Reyna would have laughed if the situation weren't grievous. Sage herself understands as she hurries to Reyna's still open door, despite still being clad in Reyna's shredded singlet and long black sweatpants, dark hair loose and tumbling down over her back.
