When they arrived at Graynor, the Ancestral Spirit of Nature reveals herself, tasking them to find the legendary Creature of the Rainbow Mantle, tame them and lead them back to the Tree of Fairies - only then will the Winx receive the Ancestral Spirit's boon. The spirit observed Flora with an air of curiosity before sending them off on their mission.
Tenca proposed that to cover as much ground as possible, the winx split into pairs. Aerilyn opted to go alone - more to clear her mind and have time to herself as the whole ordeal weighed heavily on her mind. She used her breath's vibration spell to attempt to find the creatures but groaned in annoyance when the greenry seemed even more dense than anything she's seen - rendering her spell basically useless.
"Ugh! It's like the universe is against me! Diablous is ignoring me, my friends are stressed and I have a being beyond the third dimension after me! How could anything get any worse?!" Just then, she heard shuffling and growling from up ahead, immediately she summoned her scythe in her hand and jumped up a tree to get a better view. Nothing. As soon as she jumped down, she was met by the sight of an artic fox with golden accents on its fur. How was it able to allude her senses?
She lowered her scythe and tried to approach the fox but it avaded her with blinding speeds and scambered up a tree. She followed suit and ended up in a chase against a unusually fast artic fox. Despite herself - she was really enjoying herself. It was rare for her to meet anything able to compete with her speed.
"You're a fast one, aren't you?" She said in a bemused tone. She steadied herself on a tree branch before launching herself as the fox. It narrowly dodged her, scrambling down the tree, but she grabbed the branch and swung herself down, sliding down the tree and grabbing the fox.
"Gotcha, you speedy blur. You'd be a perfect fit on my planet." She giggled softly as it licked her face. It jumped out of her arms and pawed at her leg, she turned around and realised she wasn't the one the artic fox was running from - it was a leopard, covered in shadows. It dashed at them and they were narrowly able to avade it's attack. "Seems like everyone is getting super speed." She summoned her scythe but hesitated when she saw the fox shrink away and relented with a sigh - de-summoning it.
"You're so going to get me killed, aren't you, little one?" The artic fox rubbed against her before facing the beast. It opened its mouth, blasting the leopard with a white blast. "Wowie, looks like we're twins."
Aerilyn outstretched her hands and created a tornado, aiming it at the creature as it slowly recovered from the intensity of the attack. It clawed at the ground as it tried to not be dragged in, Aerilyn groaned as she increased the pressure of the tornado. The fox dashed at the leapord, slashing it's claws at it, causing it to be swept up in the tornado and be launched away.
"Should've transformed into enchantix instead of being cocky..." She said, wiping the sweat from her forehead. The fox rubbed against her leg as she crouched down and petted it. It then pawed at her leg again, this time indicating it wanted her to follow it, so she did. She reunited with the other winx, and saw the other animals but also saw the monsters.
Wasting no time, they transformed into their enchantix and briefly fight with the monsters with the animals before the monsters fuse together into a massive dark hydra, which devours each animal and runs to the Tree of Fairies, threatening to spread darkness through all of Graynor. Their spells seemed uneffective against the monster, so they combined their fairy dust powers to release the animals, allowing them to fuse together into the Creature of the Rainbow Mantle - a winged fox thats fur shines with all the colours of the rainbow, causing the hydra to disintegrate.
The ancestral spirit of nature reveals herself, congratulating them on passing her trial. She gives them her boon and restores the pages about sirenix and the infinite ocean in the book of fairies.
"That's all great and all but...can I have my fox back?" Aerilyn said with the winx chucking in response. "What? Can't a girl befriend an animal and keep it?"
