He was gone.
She awoke one day to find the palace empty - as it usually was. But it was utterly empty. Her senses could not locate him or sense him within the vicinity; he must have gone somewhere for a few hours - perhaps a day if she was lucky. That meant she had free reign, that meant she could find a way back.
Despite their several heart to hearts, she still couldn't stay and he knew that. No doubt he placed safe-guards in place to prevent her from leaving, but she needed to make sure. Using her advanced senses she navigated the place with ease - she was becoming more accustomed to the fourth dimension. She didn't know how her body would adjust when she returned to the third dimension, but she pushed that thought away for now. Soon she stumbled upon the exit - or what seemed to be the exit, blocked by a wall of black mist.
"That jerk! Totally copying how my powers looked..." Muttering that phrase caused a sense of longing to whelm up in her. There were times where she would instinctively use her powers - only for it to not work. She recounted a time when she was allowed a brief respite outside when the figure saw her more accustomed to the fourth dimension, she outstretched her hands to create a breeze and...nothing. She couldn't feel the winds bend to her whim, her will. Mother Nature had retaken her powers, leaving her a hollow shell. Seeing her dismay, he created a breeze for her. But it wasn't the same, and she quickly went back inside.
She sighed as she gazed upon the mist, there had to be a way she could bypass it. Maybe if she had her powers, whatever made them different could've been the key. Now she had to rely on her smarts. "What would Tecna do? She'd say take the most logical route...so I should investigate before doing anything to trigger his presence back here." She quickly dashed through the hallways, opening doors and searching through the rooms at quick speeds. She had to find something that could benefit her. And she did. Remembering the room she'd often find the figure at, she quickly ran towards it and opened the door. Inside, it was nothing more than a black void with an orb in the middle.
"Shit, okay...I need something of his...the mist!" She rushed back towards the mist with a bottle, capturing some of the mist in it before making her way back. "Please work...most of these things activate using magical energy..." She whispered to herself as she tipped some of the mist onto the orb. Immediately the room exploded with a stream of colours as the surroundings shifted. When she opened her eyes, she was met with a horrifying sight. A decaying dimension, holes of space-time, reality cracking and repairing at random intervals, and in the middle - a throne.
"W-What is this place?!" She spoke with a horrified tone as she looked around. "Reality is breaking-" She cried out as a loud sound pierced her ears, forcing her to the floor as she curled into herself as she covered her ears. "Make it stop!" She screamed, and the dimension went silent. She slowly lowered her hands as she blinked away her tears, shakily getting to her feet as she staggered to the throne. "Something must have torn this place, destroyed it...but it's a whole dimension...why does he have access to this place?" She muttered to herself. Her hand ran over the smooth expanse of the throne, its prestigious exterior belieing the ominous aura it gave out - standing out amongst the rotting dimension.
"Weird vibes...but I need answers, maybe if I know what happened here, I can find a weakness in the fourth dimension and go home..." She hesitated a moment before taking a deep breath, moving to the front of the throne and seated herself on it.
She could see the past of the dimension.
It was breathtaking, beautiful. Just like the third dimension. But something shifted in the dimension, a birth of a being impossibly powerful, the figure. This had been his home dimension. She saw him as a young boy, even then his face was shrouded as he was thought to be too 'powerful' to gaze at. But he was like any other boy, he had friends, family, even a romance with a girl. So what went wrong? She focused more on him. "There are more dimensions out there, above this one, I want to go to them." His young voice rang through her ears, how less menacing, more innocent he sounded.
