She sighed as she walked through the hallways. The passage of time was unclear to her, everything always looking the same at all times. She didn't even know if there were any other people in the fourth dimension, given she was couped up in the castle.
As she spent more time there, her senses got more and more like her old self, worrying her to no end. It was hard to sneak off to find answers when he was watching her every move. She needed something to distract him away from her.
"You sure are one curious girl." The figure said, emerging from the shadows. "Dinner is ready, come now." She sighed and relented, following him into the dining room. Sitting herself on her seat, the food magically appeared before her. He sat opposite her, but didn't eat himself so it was an usually awkward time where she would eat and he would either watch or ramble on about why staying with him was the best thing for her.
"When your essence is completely gone from the third dimension, I'll take you through the fourth one, show you its sights." He said as he watched her. She sipped on her drink and sighed, maybe if she had more on him, like his name for example, she'd have a clue on his motivations.
"Right...and what should I call you exactly? I've been here for god knows how long and I don't know your name."
He stiffened momentarily before speaking. "Quite a 180 from how you usually are."
"What so I can't ask my captor for his name?"
"I am not-" He took a deep breath. "My name is not important, none of your concern. I know you're smart, so I know what you're planning. You're. Not. Leaving." He abruptly got up from his seat and left the room, his caped figure flowing, giving the impression that he was floating - that not even gravity itself could affect him. She sighed and slumped against her chair, of course it was a risky move, but now he was definitely going to be more wary towards her. If she was going to get out of here, she needed to gain his trust enough. She got up from her seat and using her advanced senses, managed to track him down.
Peaking into a room, she saw him looking down at an orb which contained...a picture of her and Diablous? He seemed completely absorbed in this picture before crushing the orb in his hands. The sound reverberated through her ears and she clutched them in response, whimpering slightly in pain. He immediately whipped his head towards her and appeared directly in front, placing his hands on top of her hands and immediately the painful sensation was gone. This was her chance.
"Usually it isn't so painful..." She said shakily as she straightened herself up. "Thank you..."
"You were spying on me." He said, brushing off her gratitude.
"I was coming to find you when I saw-"
"It doesn't matter," He interrupted, turning himself away. "I have business to attend to, so if you wouldn't mind..."
"I mean thank you for all the times you saved me." She reiterated, tentatively taking a step forward. He paused and turned towards her. "Look you may have done things that I don't like, but that doesn't take away from the point that you saved me...multiple times. So thank you," He remained silent as she shuffled uncomfortably on her feet from the prolonged silence. "That's all I really wanted to say, I'll get out of your hair..."
"You think I'm a monster." She halted in her steps when she heard those words come out of his mouth. He sounded hurt and pained. She didn't know whether to feel pity or rage and that annoyed her. "Perhaps you should, I threatened your dimension, took you away without your consent. But all I have done, I've done it to stop you from breaking down completely."
She felt a sting when he reminded her of her breakdown. She pushed that memory away, refusing to let it resurface, and now it all came flooding back, the pain she felt, how alone and helpless she felt herself. She looked down at her hands, recalling how she turned into her true form and...
