Staying with Dazai was suffocating, night of countless doubt stayed In Y/N's mind. How can he protect himself? Dazai can't always stay by his side.
And those doubts, turned into fights with him. Maybe its for Y/N to release his anger, he knows it bad but. He already went to many tragedies his mind always went blank on what to do. He can't let Dazai know, not yet.
Dazai adjusted his brown trench coat, smoothing out the fabric as he prepared to leave. He looked over his shoulder at Y/N, who was sitting near the low table, his fingers nervously tracing the grain of the wood.
“I’ll be heading out now,” Dazai said, his voice carrying its usual playful lilt. “Don’t miss me too much, alright?”
Y/N hesitated, glancing up at him. “Dazai… wait.”
He paused, tilting his head curiously. “Yes, my dear?”
“I was thinking…” Y/N began cautiously, his voice steady but low. “Could I go out today? Just for a little while. We’re out of rice and a few other things. I could head to the market and come back before you even notice.”
Dazai’s smile faltered ever so slightly, though his tone remained light. "Hm...but who will protect you?” He chuckled softly. “I don’t think so, Y/N.”
Y/N frowned, his frustration bubbling to the surface. “Why not? It’s just the market, Dazai. I’ll be careful. I’m not asking for much.”
Dazai stepped closer, crouching down to meet their gaze. His brown eyes held a glint of something dark. “It’s not about being careful, my love. It’s about the people out there. People who might recognize you. People who might want to take you away from me. I can’t allow that.”
“You can’t allow it?” Y/N snapped, his voice rising. “What about what I want, Dazai? I can’t stay locked up in here forever"
Dazai stood, his playful demeanor slipping. “I’m doing this for you, Y/N,” he said softly, though there was a sharp edge to his voice. “I’m protecting you.”
“Protecting me?” Y/N’s voice cracked as he stood to face him. “You’re not protecting me, Dazai. You’re suffocating me. Keeping me here isn’t love it’s control”
Dazai froze, his eyes showed desperation as his hands clenched into fists at his sides. “I love you,” he said quietly, almost pleadingly. “I love you so much it hurts. Can’t you see that?”
Y/N’s heart ached at his words, but he refused to back down. “How do you know how to love?” he whispered.
“You grew up without it, didn’t you? You’ve never been loved, Dazai. So how can you claim to love me?”
Dazai’s breath hitched, his shoulders stiffening as though the words had physically struck him. For a long moment, he said nothing.
Then, without another word, he turned and walked out, the door sliding shut behind him with a soft thud.
Hours passed, the house empty and eerily quiet.
Y/N sat alone on the tatami floor, his knees pulled to their chest. The weight of his words hung heavy in the air, and though he regret what he'd said, he felt guilt.
'I shouldn’t have said that, hes right, I don't have my ability to protect now...'
The sudden ring of the phone shattered the silence.
Y/N hesitated before picking it up, his hand trembling slightly.
“I want to meet you,” a voice murmured through the receiver, low and deliberate.
