Hiccup looked behind him. "Do you think this is a good idea?" he asked Toothless.

"No, absolutely not! It was your idea! What makes you think it's a good idea? We shouldn't be doing this at all!"

Maybe... maybe Toothless is right. But there was nothing Hiccup could do about it now. The decision was made, they were halfway there. If he had thought a little more ahead about the consequences of his decision, he might have changed his mind, but it was too late for that. He glanced once more anxiously at the others who were flying with them to the nest.

Hiccup's week was up. He had to go back. And he took the others with him for several reasons. The first was the simple need to be near them, now that he had renewed his bond of friendship with them. Another reason was themselves and their adamant conviction that they must go with him. They wanted to know where he had been living all this time, and the twins wanted to see the Bewilderbeast. Both Tuffnut and Ruffnut were completely captivated by the giant dragon capable of spitting ice.

Although Valka and Stoick wanted to go with them, they both stayed in the village because of their duties. Moreover, neither of them had a dragon to transport them to the nest.

Maybe it was a bad idea. What will the Alpha do when he finds out? Will he tolerate their presence in the nest for a while, or will he chase them away? Will he let Hiccup back on Berk once he returns to the nest, or will he decide that his week-long trip was enough? He hoped that the Bewilderbeast would understand. He trusted in his compassionate nature.

Perhaps if he visited the nest often, he could alternate between living on Berk and in the nest? No, that would be too much trouble, flying back and forth every now and then. He wouldn't have the time or energy to attack the Dragon hunters when time came. Which reminded him that he and Toothless had been neglecting their duty all week.

He cast another quick glance behind him. The riders and their dragons were in formation behind him and Toothless, who were leading the way.

He was enjoying his time on Berk. It was a strange, sometimes uncomfortable place to be, but that didn't matter. He avoided the Vikings, mostly being with his friends in the cove, so he could forget about it. He was getting a chance to rebuild lost relationships with everyone he was close to. He wasn't going to let the simple discomfort of being around so many people take that chance away from him.

"If you're going to tell me now that they shouldn't have flown with us, I'd like to point out that I told you before we ever took off. I don't want to hear anything about how we shouldn't have taken them with us. That's your problem."

"I know, Toothless. This is at least the third time you've said that to me."

Hiccup felt the change in the air and knew he was getting closer to the nest. The dragons behind him grew nervous, they could feel it too. Unlike Hiccup, who felt home, the dragons sensed the proximity of an unfamiliar nest. Their last memories of a nest were of the Red Death and her cruelty. Hiccup was not surprised that they were uncomfortable flying to another one.

"Is it safe?" Meatlug called from behind them uncertainly.

"It is. Our Alpha is not like the Red Death. Unless you make some trouble." Toothless looked meaningfully at Hiccup. "Everything will be fine."

Hiccup lowered his ears. This was definitely going to be trouble. Maybe not just his, but Toothless' as well. After all, Toothless was involved in everything, and if he wanted to, he could have stopped Hiccup from bringing humans - Vikings - into the nest.

It wasn't long before a huge ice structure came into view. The nest. Home.
