chp7: The unexpected!

Eleanour's *POV*(Contd.)

The next morning when i woke up it was by a heavy knock on my door..i quickly got up to unlock the door because lily was still asleep.

As i opened the door i was expecting Kathy or Mark but i saw two cops in navy blue uniform staring down at me.

"Miss Eleanour Calder?"...one the cops said looking me into the eyes...I was really scared because till that day i had never been in an encounter with the cops personally...so all i could do was just nod....."um...actually your friend Mark and Katherine got into an accide--n--t....''

"Whaaaaawt?"..i almost yelled trying to absorb the news and in my mind i had already started to pray for their safety!

"yes...it happened yesterday midnight around 2.30a.m...and Mr.Mark got injured and is admitted to the A&E

Before the man could complete...i took lily from the cot and my bag and ran for the elevator...

A&E ...have some very bad memories from the past and thats why i didnt want kathy to stay the night with me and instead louis waited with me..

That day it was the first time i saw Kathy so quiet ...so numb like i doubted if she was breathing or no...During the drive the cops told me what had happened...like Mark and Kathy were drunk and walking on the streets when some lads attacked them...And maybe they got into a fight because the injuries on Mark's body showed clearly that he was into a helpless fight...

I tried to ask Kathy exactly what happened but she spoke so little that i had to join the sentences to make sense.

She said as the party was geting over she told Mark she wanted to go for a drive but they both were drunk so they choose to walk instead and suddenly out of nowhere some four to five young lads came and attacked them and took all their money...jwellery and belongings but when they tried to snatched the enagement ring Kathy and Mark tried to escape but they were drunk and then one of the lads hit him in the head and ran and he got his head injured...and till the time i reached hospital he had lost litres of blood and was already in coma.....

For 48hours he was under observation and then brain dead !!...I informed his parents and as Kim and Steve reached California they decided to plug him off because they knew that Mark would want that and Kathy was in no state even to react....From that moment she feels guilty for everything ...for the party...for the walk...for the attack...for his DEATH!!!

Then the days went going worst and worst....where they were suppose to say their vows...the same day it was Mark's funeral and when she was suppose to be dressed in her bridal wear....there she stood in the corner wearing that bkack dress...grief all over!!...The moment she gave the goodbye speech i knew with each next word she was getting into even small pieces...why always things like this happen to the good ones!!

The ones who are suppose to stay happily ever after why always the cruelity hits them hard and this grief...this hurt...this pain...this guilt.. pierced Kathy's heart so deeply that till today i end up looking for her in every two hours!!Its like looking at someone you never know what that person has been through or is going through!

But Mark's mum was very worried about Kathy so she insisted her to join the grief group because only Kathy's father was there but he too is suffering from Alzheimers....so Kathy joined the Grief group but she ended up getting an alcholic and then it took her almost four months to heal bit by bit after joining AA
