As the leader and the person in charge of the whole operation, Vincent likely has connections and access to different resources, including other ships or transportation options.
It's possible that he could arrange something that would allow civilians to evacuate the ship and board another vessel.
Vincent's voice boomed through the intercom, its authoritative tone echoing through the ship.
"Attention all citizens. This is Vincent, your leader speaking. There has been a recent development in our plan, and I have news that concerns you all."
There was a brief pause as he let the seriousness of his words sink in.
"I have made arrangements with a contact of mine who has access to a sizeable ship. It will be used to evacuate non-combatants and take them to a safe location."
A low murmur of surprise and disbelief rippled through the hall, citizens turning to each other to share glances of astonishment and hope.
"I understand there may be some hesitation or concern regarding this plan," Vincent continued.
"But let me assure you, this ship is equipped with enough space to hold all non-combatants safely. Your safety is my primary priority."
The murmur continued, but now there was a touch of excitement mixed in with the disbelief and wariness. Vincent waited a moment, allowing the news to sink in properly before he continued.
"I will provide further instructions and details shortly, but I wanted to let you all know as soon as possible. Your cooperation is crucial, and I trust that you will all follow the evacuation process smoothly."
He paused again, giving the civilians a moment to process everything.
As the news settled in the air, the Gladers, especially Thomas, were aware of their chosen path. The purpose of evacuating the civilians was primarily to ensure that the resources like food, supplies and fuel would be sufficient for their long journey ahead.
"You staying?" Minho asked casually towards the others, eating his legged chicken.
"You already know the answer," Thomas replied, taking a bite out of an apple.
Frypan nodded in agreement as he chewed. "We're not ditching this ship."
"Our main priority is to get the survivors out of WICKED's sight. If WICKED caught us, atleast only our lives are in trouble. I won't let the civilians life at stake just because WICKED is obsessed with hunting us." Nancy said.
Thomas's eyes darkened at the mention of WICKED. The thought of the organization tracking them down and causing more destruction weighed heavily on his mind.
"You're right, Nancy," he said quietly.
Gally nodded in agreement. "We can't compromise the civilians' safety for our own. They don't need to be roped into our problems with WICKED."
"We have to separate them from us as much as possible," Thomas continued. "They should be moved out far away from this ship, somewhere where WICKED can't get to them."
The others nodded solemnly, understanding the seriousness of the situation. They knew WICKED would stop at nothing to find and recapture them.
Thèrèse let out a sigh, her expression serious. "It's risky, but it seems like the best option. If WICKED doesn't know where they are, they can't target them."
The air was heavy with the weight of their circumstances. The fight against WICKED seemed endless, a never-ending struggle against an adversary who always seemed one step ahead.
