Eventually, everyone had finished their meal, the dishes cleared away, and the sun was high in the sky.
Vincent gathered the selected members, Thomas, Minho and Hugo around him. He explained the mission at hand.
"Alright, listen up," he began, "We need to move some supplies over to the rest of the Right Arm on another island. We're gonna pickup our rightful supplies from a factory and a warehouse, then we're moving by jeep. We'll move to the harbor and there will be a ship waiting for us. That ship is trustworthy enough and they can transport our supplies to the Right Arm members safely."
The rest of the group was gathered around the jeeps, saying their goodbyes.
Nancy hugged Thomas tightly, her voice filled with a mix of affection and concern.
"Be careful, okay?" She said, a hint of worry in her eyes.
Thomas nodded, patting her back gently.
Matt pulled Hugo into a brotherly hug. "Don't do anything stupid," he warned.
Hugo laughed, returning the hug. "Me? Stupid? Never."
Matt just rolled his eyes, but a smile tugged at the corner of his mouth.
Frypan stepped in, giving Hugo a playful smack on the back.
"Just bring me back one of those fancy suits from the warehouse, would ya? I could use an upgrade."
"Be careful out there." Teresa said, waving her arm.
Thomas, Minho, Hugo smiled at the group, waving in return.
"We'll be fine," Minho assured, his voice brimming with confidence.
The engine of the jeep rumbled to life, signaling it was time for the team to go.
Nancy, Vicky, Thèrèse and Bea stood nearby Thomas, "If you don't come back in one piece, I'm gonna hunt you down and kick your ass." Bea pointed her finger at her older brother.
Thomas chuckled, his smile widening. He knew that his sister's threat was genuine, but he also knew that it came from a place of love.
"I'll be back, I promise," he reassured her. "And if I'm not, you have my permission to kick my ass."
"You sure you don't need any of us for backup?" Harriet asked Vincent.
Vincent shook his head, "No need. We stay low. We can't bring too much people out the base."
Minho and Thomas exchanged glances, both of them itching to object. They knew the risks of going on a dangerous mission with a smaller team.
But Vincent's words made sense. Bringing too many people would draw unwanted attention. Vincent continued, "It's safer this way. We can move in and out quickly, and draw less attention."
Thomas and Minho looked like they wanted to protest, but neither of them argued. They knew that Vincent was their commander, and he had the final say.
The jeep rumbled down the road, the engine growling as the vehicle picked up speed.
Minho was in the passenger seat, his gaze fixed on the road ahead. Vincent was behind the wheel, navigating the narrow paths through the abandoned streets.
Hugo and Thomas sat in the back, their eyes darting around their surroundings. Outside the window, the city passed by in a blur of crumbling buildings and desolate scenery.
The silence in the jeep was thick, the only sound the engine and the occasional crunch of gravel under the tires.
Thomas was the first to break the silence, his voice breaking the tension.
