As Nancy left the room, she joined the rest of the group who were just outside. They were all gathered in silence, their faces reflecting a mix of concern and exhaustion.
Minho and Frypan were leaning against the wall, their eyes fixed on the door where Bea was resting.
Thomas stood nearby, his gaze turned away, a troubled expression on his face.
Vicky looked up as Nancy returned. "How is she?" she asked quietly.
Nancy sighed, exhaustion evident in her voice. "Exhausted. In pain. But she's sleeping, at least for now."
Vivian was combing Hugo's hair. The boy had a scowl on his face, but he didn't mind, Vivian felt like home, his mother.
Hugo's scowl slowly softened as Vivian continued to comb through his disheveled hair. He leaned his head against her thigh, his earlier frustration gradually melting away.
"Where's Thèrèse?" Aris asked. "She didn't visit Bea."
Thomas frowned, looking at the door to the room. "Huh."
Gally shrugged. "She's probably just resting. It's been a long day for all of us."
"She's gone with the Iron Lion divers outside the city," Teresa explained.
Thomas nodded, understanding now. "Yeah, that makes sense."
Minho huffed, folding his arms across his chest. "She could've at least said something instead of just disappearing."
"She said something about checking the area where Verena's berg was sinking. Making sure she's truly gone." Teresa said.
Frypan nodded, a thoughtful look on his face. "Yeah, sounds like her."
Nancy placed a hand on Thomas' arm, her eyes filled with worry. "Is she going to be safe out there?"
"Hopefully. The Iron Lion divers are with her, and she can handle herself." Thomas replied.
Minho rolled his eyes, still annoyed. "Yeah, but you know Thèrèse. She has a knack for finding trouble."
They turned their attention back to their surroundings. The city was slowly coming to life as people began to venture outside of their homes.
Groups of children ran past them, their laughter ringing in the air. Others lit up torches, creating a flickering path throughout the city.
Thomas watched the scene with a mixture of exhaustion and weariness. "We should probably get some rest too," he sighed.
"Yeah, I agree." Nancy nodded, rubbing her eyes. "But what about Thèrèse?"
Frypan shrugged. "She can handle herself."
Hugo suddenly piped up from where he was still leaning against Vivian. "Thèrèse will be okay. She's tough."
Minho smirked at Hugo, ruffling the boy's hair once more. "Looks like someone's got a soft spot for her."
"Of course. She's my repair buddy besides these two." Hugo pointed toward Matt and Luke.
"Your repair buddy?" Frypan chuckled. "Is that what you call it?"
Minho nodded approvingly. "Yeah, she's pretty good with her hands. Skilled mechanic."
"Oh she's good with her hands, alright," Teresa added. Brenda, Harriet and Sonya laughed, pushing Teresa away.
