‼️blood and violence‼️

WCKD's operation continued on a different front. Their military forces, led by Verena and her partner Victor, moved from city to city, an island to an island wreaking havoc.

Tanks roared through the air, followed by explosives that left trails of dust and debris.

WCKD soldiers, clad in their familiar stark white uniforms, marched toward the unsuspecting village.

Verena and Victor, flanked by their troops, stood in front of the crowd that had gathered.

Verena stepped forward, her voice carrying over the hushed whispers. "Civilians, we seek information. The ones we want are amongst you. Give them up, or face the consequences."

The soldiers began shoving villagers into a makeshift lineup. The chief of the village stood firm.

"We have nothing to tell you," he said. "We will not betray our people."

Verena rolled her eyes. "I admire your resilience. But resistance is futile. You'll cooperate one way or another."

She signaled to her soldiers, who began dragging the villagers forward one by one, forcing them to their knees in front of Verena and Victor.

"You have two choices," Verena continued, her tone hardening. "You can tell us what we need to know, or we will make these people suffer until you do."

She nodded to a nearby soldier, who raised his weapon, pointing it at the village chief.

The chief's defiant expression wavered for a moment, but he held his ground. "You won't find the boy here. You're wasting your time."

Just then, a young girl, no older than twelve, broke through the crowd and rushed to the chief, throwing her arms around him.

"Papa," she whispered, tears streaming down her face.

Verena smirked at the display of emotion. "Ah, there it is. The vulnerability. The weakness."

Victor, standing next to her, watched the scene with cold eyes. "Use it."

Verena nodded, taking a step closer to the chief. "I see you care about this child. A lot. It would be a shame if something... happened to her. A shame indeed."

The chief's resolve cracked. He patted the girl's head affectionately, his gaze shifting to Verena.

"Please, don't hurt her," he pleaded. "She's just a child. She knows nothing."

Verena's smirk widened. "That's more like it. Now we're getting somewhere."

She held out a hand to the young girl. "Come here, sweetheart. Let me have a look at you."

The girl looked up at Verena with wide, fearful eyes. She stepped forward, holding onto her father's hand. Her lower lip trembled as she tried to keep her tears at bay.

Verena knelt down, placing a cold hand on the girl's cheek. "What's your name, darling?"

"Natasha," the girl whispered, her voice trembling.

Verena feigned a sympathetic smile. "Natasha, that's a beautiful name. Tell me, Natasha, have you seen anyone unfamiliar around here? Someone who doesn't belong?"

The girl shook her head, her bottom lip quivering. "N-no, ma'am. I haven't seen anyone new. promise."

Victor stepped closer, towering over the girl. "You sure about that?"

Natasha shrank back, her eyes darting between Verena and Victor. "I'm s-sure! I don't know anything, I swear!"

Verena signaled to her soldiers, who quickly went to work.
