Azriel
~35 days since Hybern~
The flight down to the river house had been a whirlwind of emotions. Ziláa's scent hitting me was like a drug.
As my wings carried me, I scanned the streets, as if expecting to find her skulking about like the night we met. Images of her eyes and her sharp tongue filled my mind. What I wouldn't give to have her say something to me, to call me a name, to shout at me - anything.
When I reached the river house, my shadows burst through the door before me, they were almost difficult to control. Flurrying and whipping around the plate resting in my palm.
I hurried through to Rhys's study, almost bringing the door off its hinges from my urgency.
He was leaning over some paperwork, tapping his pen ever so slightly on the desk when he looked up in anticipation, to see what had almost broken part of his new house.
"You've found something?" He questioned, stars in his eyes flecking around.
"This" I put the plate down in front of him. "Are you able to tell me where this sigil comes from? It's not night court, even Amren couldn't place it."
Rhys surveyed the plate a while, checking every side, feeling the material, even the weight of it, before finally making a decision. "I'm not one hundred percent on it Az, but I believe it could be from the dawn court, although I'm not sure what the 'O' on the back of it means."
"The dawn court," I muttered under my breath. Of course, it makes sense.
Rhys handed the plate back to me and I looked at the small marking on the back, a delicate letter 'O,' etched into the ceramic.
What did it mean? An ex lover perhaps... my siphons flared ever so slightly at the thought, I tried to push it to the back of my mind.
My chest tightened as I continued to turn the plate over in my hands. Ziláa had a keepsake from the dawn court, that must be where she's from, I suppose she lied about being from the summer court to protect whoever 'O' is. As if we'd ever hurt them...even if they are an ex lover...
Without wasting another second, I turned to stride out of the room so I could begin the flight to the dawn court.
"Az! Stop!" Rhysand called after me, following me out of the house.
"We don't have permission to show up in the Dawn court unannounced!" He bellowed, using his high lord tone.
But the tone fell deaf on my ears, I was still reeling from the scent of Ziláa and the keepsake I was clutching in my palm.
"I don't have time for permission." I retorted as I shot to the skies.
