Limiting Belief: I believe I'll have to do things I hate in order to make money (which explains why I don't feel completely drawn to any career and why I don't want to do work I don't like for money).
Deep down, I believe that the highest paying careers are the careers that require a crazy amount of hard, grueling work (like being a doctor, or a lawyer, or a finance person) because I haven't seen otherwise. I don't really know any high paying jobs that don't require a lot of sacrifice. And I've seen a lot of people in those jobs struggle with work-life balance and taking care of themselves. So it's hard for me to imagine myself making a lot of money unless I do grueling work.
I believe that if I do work that I "like," I won't be paid high enough for it. The work that I like is usually not technical and requires more softer skills like leadership, project planning, organization, etc. I haven't seen anything that mentions that those skills alone can get me paid really well. I believe that the only way for me to be successful is to do technical work I don't like (like coding, data, spreadsheets, administrative tasks, etc.) and go to school for a degree I don't even want.
Flipping the Script: I CAN earn a living by doing work that aligns with my passions, values, and skills. I may have to do tasks I don't like sometimes, but I can ALWAYS do what I love and find a way to make money from it.
I have to realize that I can find (or create) work that I like that also pays well. Even if I'm unaware of it, there are so many different types of careers that pay well, allows me to do energizing work, and also allows me to take time to myself to recharge. I just have to figure out what those kinds of careers are. I can compile a list and research to see what kind of work I could do, how well I can be paid for it, and what work-life balance can look like.
It's not that it doesn't exist. I just have to find it.
