3rd Person POV

Tony's hands gripped the wheel tightly, the car's engine roaring as he maneuvered through the dark streets. His eyes flickered to the side every so often, just to check on Layla. She was quiet, too quiet. It was the kind of silence that made Tony's gut twist in anxiety.

"How're you feeling wolf?" Tony asked her, his voice soft but tense. He couldn't afford distractions. Not now, not when they were on their way to infiltrate a high-security base that could mean life or death for their team. Layla had insisted on coming along—something about staying close to him while they were so close to the finish line on this mission. But now, her silence was making him uneasy.

"I'm good," Layla's voice came back through the speakers, but it was strained. Tony glanced at her quickly, and that's when he saw it. Her face was pale, beads of sweat forming on her brow. Her eyes were shut, and she was gripping the seat with both hands.

"Layla?" He almost slammed the brakes, but he had to keep going. She could never keep up with this kind of mission, not when her body was about to give her the biggest challenge of all.

She winced, her breath sharp, as another contraction hit her. She pressed her hand to her stomach, squeezing her eyes shut as the pain made her stomach tighten like a vice.

"Tony," she gasped, her voice trembling, "I—Tony!"

"Stay calm, Lay. Just breathe. I'm right here." Tony's voice was barely above a whisper, but his heart was pounding in his chest. His eyes flickered to her again, his grip tightening on the wheel.

She tried to reply, but the pain was too much, too fast. Her vision blurred as another contraction hit. Sweat rolled down her face, her breathing shallow and quick. She could feel the baby coming, and she felt utterly alone in that moment.

"Tony! Please!" she cried out, but there was no response. Her water had broken. She was going into labor right here, right now, in the middle of a mission.

"Tony!" She screamed, voice breaking, as another wave of pain hit her.

"Tony!" She cried again, but the words felt hollow now as if there was no one there to hear her.

Time seemed to stretch out, her vision blurring, her body wracked with pain. Was she really going to have Ryder right here? Alone, with no help?

She closed her eyes and squeezed her fists, preparing herself for the worst. She tried to remember the breathing techniques she'd been taught, but everything felt hazy, and all she could feel was the intense pressure building within her.

Suddenly, the passenger car door swung open, and the cool air hit her face, snapping her back into reality. Tony's voice cut through her pain, urgent, rough, and somehow comforting all at once.

"Layla!" His hands were on her immediately, lifting her from the seat, and cradling her against him. His face was pale, sweat dripping from his forehead. His eyes were wide with fear.

"Tony, the baby... I can't..." she gasped, unable to hold back her tears.

"Shh, baby, I got you," Tony murmured, scooping her into his arms as he moved to get out of the car. "I'm not gonna let anything happen to you or Ryder. You hear me?"

"I—" Layla's voice cracked. "I can't... I don't think I can make it through this. The pain... it's so much."

His hands brushed her hair back gently, and he pressed his forehead to hers. "I'm here, Layla. I'm right here. You're not doing this alone."

She closed her eyes, overwhelmed, but the thought of Ryder, their baby, kept her focused.

Tony looked around frantically, but it was clear that they wouldn't make it in time. They were miles away from any safe place, and the baby wasn't waiting for anyone.

Suddenly, a familiar figure appeared, stepping out of the shadows. It was one of the teams, but it wasn't the help they expected. Layla's heart skipped. How had they...?

"Layla?" The voice was sharp, authoritative, and unmistakable. It was one of the doctors from their team, a genius who'd worked with them on more than one occasion. He stepped forward, pulling out medical supplies. "We're going to get you through this, don't worry."

Layla let out a shaky breath, finally feeling some relief. But it wasn't enough. The pain was still there. Ryder was coming. Right now.

"I'm so sorry," she whispered, tears streaking her face. "I didn't want this to happen like this. I wanted you—"

"Don't say that," Tony whispered back, brushing her cheek. "You've done nothing wrong. We're gonna be alright. Ryder's gonna be alright."

As the doctor worked quickly, Tony never left her side, his eyes never leaving hers. The world seemed to fade around them as they focused on the most important thing at that moment: Ryder's arrival.

And then, just as the pain reached its peak, Layla felt Ryder—her beautiful baby boy—enter the world, with Tony's arms wrapped tightly around her.

"What... what about the mission?" Layla asked finally.

"Stop thinking about that Layla, that's what family's here for." Echo smiled as she, Cisco and Frostee stepped inside the room to meet their nephew.
