Yesterday's Future

© 01-18-25, Olan L. Smith

Every day we awake to yesterday's future,

Every dream filled with untouched worlds

Both near and far away, creatures strange,

Fearsome and kind, dark and brilliant.

All mysterious and faint to conscious minds, but we

want to continue the visions, close our eyes, return to

Those other worlds, real yet stagnant, unable to touch,

The yesterday we live is as frightful as our dreams.

Fill your cup with nowness; reality's future is undreamt

By the fools of today's yesterday. Live to drink the cup

Of tomorrow in today's present, yet unlived. Watch the

Pebbles roll down the slope until they stop in tomorrow.
