It was nearly dark when I came back into the house to grab my things.

"Hey, Cami. You ready?" Luke asked behind me, clearing his throat. He looked exhausted, from the fight I assumed, but his smile was surprisingly real. It looked as if he was ready to get out of here as much as I was.

I nodded, all the words stuck in my throat.

"I'll let you finish up. Come downstairs when you're done."

And with that, I thanked the Lord. I was beyond glad he left me alone, so that I could mentally prepare myself for the hours I'd have to be alone with him.

I still didn't understand. It was clear that Luke was depressed living with Jocelyn. Why would he have to lie about something like that? Why is he still with her?

After a couple minutes, I grabbed my things with a shaky hand, and swallowed my fear. I couldn't hide in my room forever. Plus, it wasn't fair of me to make Luke wait.

I met Luke at the bottom of the stairs, secretly glad that Jocelyn wasn't there. She didn't want to say goodbye, and that was definitely okay with me.

"Are you ready, Angel?" He asked, taking my suitcase in one hand and his in the other.

We locked eyes, my brown dull ones meeting his unbelievably deep blue ones. I couldn't believe I once thought of them to be intimidating.

God, I want you. I thought and immediately flushed at my own thoughts, earning a strange look from Luke.

"Of course," I mumbled, "After you."

Filler chapter but this is only one of a few. Sorry :3 Annnnnd they are on their way to Chicago ;) predictions?
