The phone rang in my ear, and I flinched every time I heard the next buzzing sound of the receiver. Finally, she picked up on the last ring.

"Cami?" The voice asked, and I had to check that I called the right person. It barely sounded like a person.

"Mom," I stated, as if to acknowledge her presence.

"I'm so sorry, baby," she whispered.

"Yeah, I know. I heard your voicemail," I said, monotonously. I could feel Luke's intense stare into the side of my head.

"I want to talk to you in person."

I was silent for a while. I didn't think I could be in the same room with her ever again. Maybe this will be the last time you'd have to be. I pointed out to myself.

"When and where?"

"Later tonight, as soon as it gets dark. That hotel you saw me exiting out of. That was the place I screwed up, and that was the place I need end it," she explained. I raised my eyebrows, accepting that as a good answer.

"But come alone."

I frowned. "Why?"

"I have things I want to say to you alone. We're family. Luke isn't."

"Don't start with me on family," I hissed, trying to control my temper, "Luke has been there, loved me, and supported me, like family is supposed to. He's been more of a family to me than you have for a long time."

"Cam-"

"No. I don't want to hear it. I'll be there at 7:30 tonight," I told her, hanging up abruptly, not caring to hear her goodbye.

I threw my phone into my lap, putting my head back onto the seat in exhaustion. I'd like to think myself of a patient person. There's just some people that it doesn't exist with.

"Angel?" Luke asked softly, beckoning for me to look over at him.

I turned my head, and his face was only a couple inches from mine. I hadn't even realized that the car had stopped moving, and we were back at the cabin.

"What does she want?" He asked, eyes searching mine with, terror in his eyes. Why was he looking at me like this was the last time he'd see me?

"Luke, you're scaring me. Why are you looking at me like that?" My voice shook, emotions from everything that was happening choking me up. It was as if it had hands that were wrapping around my throat, slowly progressing to get tighter.

He looked down, shaking his head, reappearing with a very small grin. But it wasn't forced. It was never forced.

"I'm sorry."

"She wants to meet me at the hotel near the park at 7:30. It's called the The Phoenix."

"Okay, that's fine. I'll be right there."

I shook my head. "Luke...I have to go alone."

He scowled. "What the-why?"

I shrugged. "She says it's a family thing and that you aren't family. Which is absolute bullshit."

"Then I'll wait outside. I'm not leaving you alone, Cami," he said harshly, and I felt my heart tug at his protectiveness.

"Thank you," I said, starting to tear up.

He hugged me and I hid my face in his neck, letting out soft breaths.

"I'll never leave you alone," Luke promised, placing a soft kiss on my neck.

So yeah I will be doing a new story. It's something kinda strange but I hope you guys will like it. It'll be published a little after this story finishes.
